Doesn't break but does wear down. Exactly how quickly depends on the surface you are using it on (and your mileage, obviously). I'm currently experimenting with cardboard, seems to add enough drag to feel more like a 2H pencil.

I guess I'll have to fiddle around more with my Garrett Ace Apex Metal detector. Tweaking it and junk.

I normally don't have issues with authority but I have experienced lots of power abuse before both as a victim and a bystander. I won't stand for it.
