Every once in awhile i go though the most recent posts while having "rating:q" enabled for the search, most of the time its ok.. but recently a bunch of "approved" pictures got through with visible lower genitalia...and i don't mean partially hidden or hard to see stuff...

Examples: (Note: rating is Explicit now because i changed it, however it was rated Questionable and approved by moderators.)
http://e621.net/post/show/182401/balls-equine-male-penis-solo
http://e621.net/post/show/181927/blush-cum-cum_on_face-erection-feline-female-male-

http://e621.net/post/show/181865/badger-eulalia_-character-female-nude-piercing-sol

Now i know being a mod is hard work and i appreciate the work they do... but up until now its only been one picture every, couple of weeks that slips through, not so many at once. you guys need some coffee? lol

Wait what? Are you implying that those images should not have been approved, or that it's the mods' jobs to make sure their ratings are always accurate? Because neither of these things are correct. It's the uploader's responsibility to apply the correct rating when uploading it, and the *Community's* (mods and users) responsibility to add tags and correct ratings. Questionable is the default rating when posting, and sometimes people can forget to change it. It's not a big deal, just fix it when you see it.

no, im just saying that it might help if 'everyone' kept an eye out for such things. I'll just keep doing what ive been doing, checking from time to time and applying the fix's when i see it. I do alot of that, i look for Tag vandalism as well as note vandalism, and wrong ratings. everyone makes mistakes, but considering two of those posts you could see the guys junk from the thumbnails let alone having to click on them... im just saying, this is the feedback forum, here is my feedback, everyone should pitch in, not just the posters. I am not sure how things are "approved" like if you have to actually click the thumbnail to do it, but when you approve it, maybe just a quick glance to make sure its all in order. as i said, from time to time ive found, maybe 1 post like this out of 20 posts, but recently it was a handful. and ive found ones with "explicit tags" like "penis" without the Explicit rating from way back when. I have every respect for you and the other mods. I just prefer to keep XXX in the XXX section. don't want to pull up the site for my friend or something, type in Rating:q, or Rating:s and have them see stuff they would rather not.

Really, really crazy idea here...

But is there any way for a blacklist or search containing -rating:e to not only remove explicit images, but explicit advertisements as well?

I know nothing about the site's programming, and the coding for advertisement probably has nothing to do with the tag system so that kind of functionality would probably require a shit ton of rewriting. I'm also aware that it runs up against the whole Varka/Bad Dragon technically owning the site...

But again, it's just a crazy idea.

Edit: Maybe a "safe mode" that the user can toggle on and off would be much more straightforward and efficient...

I will talk to nemekh about generating sfw codes for e621

Feature request:
When you upload something to e621, but leave the "source" field blank, e621 should automatically put the file name in the source field.

Just wanted to say that I like the new hexagon background; and I apologize if it's not "new", I don't check the site every day (or even every week) ^^

On post pages, shortened Pool names should expand when you mouseover (similar to source?) maybe with fallback to a "title" attribute.

hmm, i thought of something that might cut back on these derps that flag out of dislike of images, or thinking they are wrong or illegal or whatever. has e621 ever used a checkbox that says "i have read and agree to the rules of *insert whatever here*" that they have to check before they are allowed to comment, post, flag, et cetra?

The FFD check box can have a link that takes them directly to the FFD rules, same with comments and posting though with posting would also include a link to the DNP section.

heck maybe the rules pops up in a little window and you have to scan to the bottom of the page before it allows you to click agree?

cuz i swear these people are mostly all newcomers to the site and its like "I reject your rules and substitute my own!" lol

Mistress_Snowtail said:

An extra checkbox and link to the FFD rules may be a good idea, but I'm not so sure that the newness of FFD abusers is why.

After looking at the past two weeks of records, I'm seeing 8 FFD records, but only 3 of them are for users who are "newer" than 4 months. Of those 3, it appears one was deliberately abusing FFD and harassing the admins.

I know two weeks isn't much of a sample size, but from that sample there doesn't appear to be a clearly defined pattern of newbies making this specific error. It might be interesting to dig further into the records list to see if this holds up.

An extra click on a checkbox would serve as another mechanism to confirm "yes, I really mean to do this", and it may help to dissuade someone from abusing the FFD feature, regardless of how long they've been a member. That may be enough justification if the change is simple enough, but I'd also say it's up to the admins whether they feel "casual" FFD abuse is common enough to warrant a change to the system.

Updated by anonymous

This has been brought up before. It was decided that there weren't enough to warrant changing code for it, especially in a way that isn't likely to actually deter anyone.

The favorites menu just uses fav:your_username, so you can use any search terms with that to sort or limit it. You'll have to use those search terms again or bookmark it since the "Favorites" link will still link to the default search.

I think he means being able to put your favorites into groups and change their order, like pools. It isn't totally necessary but it would be nice.

Could you make it so that you could resize an image by clicking on it, and being able to drag the image to zoom in and out? That's a feature that I've always wanted, maybe to crop something out or to zoom in on something that looked especially nice.

Clicking images is already used to show/hide notes, so we can't make it do something else.

Is there a 'find similar' feature- or more specifically,a way to know if you're uploading a duplicate?

Updated by anonymous

If it's an exact duplicate, the tags will be merged with the existing post's tags and...I don't remember if there's a message or not, I don't see it often. Either there's a message telling you that it's a duplicate, or you just end up at the existing post's page. Maybe both.

I don't believe there's any way to search for images that are similar but not exact duplicates. You're best off searching the site before uploading, and hoping that the image is properly tagged.

While I do agree with you,the ratio of mlp to everything else is surprisingly not that large.
There are ~12 340 mlp posts
Assuming that each picture is tagged mlp once, subtracting that from the current (as of this post) id,which is 197 724, gives us ~185 384 non-mlp posts.

If we were to exclude the deleted posts & count approved posts only (which is 176 730,judging from the front page),that would give 176730 - 12340,which is roughly 164 390 posts.

That would be a ratio of 12340 : 164390.
Which means,for every 1 mlp post,there are 13 non-mlp posts

..On second thought, maybe this is not the most apt place to post this info

I think that the posts per day might be more instructive than the total number of posts, because that's what influences the front page the most (and the front page is where most people go if they aren't looking for something specific). Let's do a back-of-the-envelope calculation:

Of the MLP posts, 11777 of those are from Friendship is Magic. The earliest piece of FIM art I can find on this site (with minimal effort) was uploaded on November 18 2010. So 11777 posts over...470 days is 25 posts per day. The earliest upload remaining on this site is from February 10 2007, which is 1847 days ago. Using your numbers for the non-MLP art, that gives 89 non-MLP posts per day. That gives a ratio of 1:3.56 on the front page, or roughly 22%. That's where the perception of "SO MANY PONIES" comes from.

Updated by anonymous

While we are on the pony topic, how do you sort the tags? I, for instance, do not enjoy pony sex or pony porn, but I do love epic pony art, also with nudity(remember, no sex!)

So? Is there a way to, like, remove 'sex' tag or something?

Updated by anonymous

Add the following line to your blacklist (it needs to be all one line, and there should be no other tags on the line):
my_little_pony rating:explicit

If you're okay with sexual nudity (e.g. pinups), it gets more complicated, because the above line will block that. Instead you'll need something like the following:
my_little_pony sex
my_little_pony masturbation
my_little_pony penetration

You'll probably still see some sex slip through because of poor tagging, but please fix that when you see it.

Wow,22% does seem like a lot, especially if you use the default post-display of 75.
Ideally(?),that's about 17 posts per page

Whose idea was it to give you a greeting in a different language each time you view your account?I enjoy that thing immensely!I love how this site is run and don't plan on leaving it any time soon.Although it could be a bit more colorful. All blue can be a bit...strange..at times.I'm not saying that it should be a very strange variety of colors(Nothing like having the background blue and the foreground red then the text yellow. That would just be annoying)Just something with a tad more contrast. With maybe a gradient as the background?(I know this would effect loading speeds)I've always realized that people tend to leave sites with darker colors as the backgrounds.I'm guessing that it makes them feel as if they are in a scary place (In this case they would think of a virus filled site) seeing as scary places are usually accomadated with the dark. It's just a suggestion. And as for being notified when a post of yours has been commented on or you have been qouted:You could add a tab in the top left corner of the page that would turn red when you have been quoted or one of your posts have been commented on.Then when you click on it it would bring down a drop down list of things that could say things such as"XXXXX Has commented on your post"OR"XXXXX Has quoted something you said."And the words POST and SOMETHING would be linked to the specific post or quote specified by the text such as on Furnation.I understand that these are things meant more for social sites but they really could make this site much more easy to use.If you do intend on making this site even more social I would consider adding a chat room. Those are the only things I can think of that could possibly make this site any better than it already is.(Unless you could find a way to make it come with candy).I truly appreciate the work that you put into this site and find it a very nice place to be.I just created this account yesterday and I must say,you have done a great job at making this site easy to navigate.I understand that you all work very hard on this site and I find it very enjoyable. Please keep up the hard work!We all appreciate it and wish you good luck!BLINX FOREVER! That would make it very hard to hold users accountable for things they've said. If we get onto them about their comments, they'd be able to just go back and change them and deny it. They can hide their comments, but they're still visible to us.
