Yes, it was fixed a few days after you first pointed it out but we've been putting off updating until today :P

I can't tell you how many people had to message me in the past because they forgot their password and didn't have an e-mail account tied to their e621 account in order to receive a password reset e-mail. =/ It was a pain in the ass to work those out, and sometimes we just simply never could.

I can't remember if there were any other reasons, but that alone is enough to justify it to me. Plus the site is just constantly getting more and more popular, so any issues that show up because of people being able to register accounts without e-mail addresses would only continue to get worse and worse otherwise.

Yeah it kind of sucks, but at the same time I think the cons outweigh the pros at this point.

This isn't really a feature-request so much as a feedback/question, which might result in a change, possibly only to CSS.

Is there a chance we could get the ADD button on https://e621.net/tag_alias and https://e621.net/tag_implication to appear "above the fold," thatis possibly to the right of the searchbox, and not below the default table of results?

I assume only logged-in users can punch it anyway, so unless we're basically hiding it from anons it seems silly to have to scroll for it (depending on screen-resolution, browser, etc.... for me? I have to unless I have the text-size zoomed down)

Edit - I guess it's formatted to appear as a menu-navigation so that option's above the fold but it kinna blends in well, as item that's in-row with the other things even though it jumps to a separate page with a different layout, unlike its siblings up there in the second row... Maybe just duplicate the more HTML-forms-y looking button up to the right where suggested? The current way just seems a touch inconsistent with the way pages are layed out on a typical site that has a 'new-thing-plus-a-search-for-thing' set of pages.

Site's wiki/help could be organized better. Currently there are two main help pages:

https://e621.net/wiki/show?title=help%3Aindex
and
https://e621.net/help

both of them provides links about same things, but with different content, and url. It's really hard to tell which of them are outdated. Also first one doesn't have definition for ratings, and other one has outdated, and unclear one.

I dunno if this is the place for it or whatever.

Yeah, you can't downvote admin comments so that they stay visible.

I'd prefer something where we can manually force a comment to be visible regardless of score but I can't program that in.

Please require the use of "not_furry" or "human" tags on all images which clearly contain at least one non furry character. Not much use having a blacklist with human and not_furry on there if people don't tag them...

The API has only one way to retrieve comments, and that is by providing the comment ID. But I can't figure out a use case for this function, since I'm not aware of any way to get the IDs of specific comments.

It would be more useful to retrieve comments by providing the post ID. I'd actually like to use such a function, so I'd be happy if you could implement it.

I understand that viewing other pages than first in tag history is disabled for performance issues. However couldn't url https://e621.net/post_tag_history?page=2 direct to some error page explaining the issue instead of still displaying first page of tag history? It's confusing for people who don't know/forgot about it.

Updated by anonymous

We need to add "Off topic" as an invalid reason to flag something. It's basically the same as flagging something with "not furry" but with different wording.

Updated by anonymous

Just saw the note at the top about "just ran out of memory on the site, so we QUADRUPLED it" I applaud you for your snappy response, and future-proofing. You don't see that being done on many sites these days, especially furry ones, and especially image repositories. Kudos to the site team.

Updated by anonymous

Can we get a clarification on why irrelevant to site is a reason for deletion but considered invalid for flagging? Moreover, can we just get a flatly stated list of things that people just don't want on the site period? Since it appears all uploads are at the subjective mercy of the mods and admins right now. It makes sense that furry related items be exclusive, but there's no explicit stating of "No human on human" or whatever the reason is for these multiple series of images to be brought down. And it would be nice to get some kind of stated general border for what actually counts as relevance since again this is a grey area, such as what I assume now to be the logic for Pokemon uploads: Pokemon = Okay; Trainer with Pokemon = Okay; Trainer and/or NPC together = No? But also Yes? Trainer and/or NPC alone but wearing Pokemon attire = Also Yes and No? Won't much matter anymore to me since I'm done uploading or flagging anything, but still just seems like a topic that deserves some kind of actual answer.

An admin already knows what is and isn't relevant to the site, so there's no need to tell them through a flag

You see, this isn't a furry exclusive site. It's an image sharing site dominated by furry content. Human art still gets approved

Exclusive from the pretense of irrelevance, I understand quite well that human art is allowed. However we as posters are not strictly aware of what will be accepted or deleted. This case comes up for reasoning that I have recently submitted two images of pokemon related characters who happened to be human, deleted for the reasoning of irrelevance. But there are clear examples of humans being posted and continuing to exist while others are flagged and deleted. There is no stated implication nor prior knowledge stated to us as posters as to what will be allowed, such as how a character like Hex Maniac can exist solo in an image with no other implications towards the pokemon franchise while the images I uploaded featuring Professor Juniper were promptly deleted. What denotes these variances, and why is such information not readily available? Had I known the result I simply would not have wasted my time uploading, or writing this for that matter.

That is a very unreasonable prospect, however with that being stated, how is it justifiable to mark an uploader with strikes against their account for something that is ultimately left to the inclinations of the moderator? With no prior information regarding the subject, you have to accept the same punishment as one would if they intentionally broke the rules for posting. It would be more understandable if there was a set ruling, but for characters of the same franchise, image caliber and content to exist with varied results seems to warrant that there is an underlying issue in my eyes.

While I agree with you that it should be standardized positively so that it isn't kicked out completely and we can upload images with humans sans furries knowing that they will be accepted, not just tossing them to the Admin Roulette, but regardless of personal inclination, I want to clarify something here. https://e621.net/user/show/76298 There is no strike against you. There is no record, and there is no reduction in your upload limit. The only "strike" is that you have two deleted posts listed on your account page.

I realize this, however that is still a negative ramification for an aspect I was not aware of. Regardless of whether or not it negatively impacts me at present is not the issue; the issue stands that such has become a blemish upon not only my account, but upon various others that happened to upload images and flash content that had been deemed irrelevant while we had no prior knowledge or warning that such would result. Furthermore, had I continued to upload the parent post without text and the next image in the series with these going on to meet the same fate, I would have indeed suffered a upload reduction; all for a ruling seemingly based on pure chance.

Is the image part of a series that features some non furry and some furry content, such as a comic? If so, PM an admin about it. Non-furry content part of an image series that does have furry content is preserved as part of the whole series.

Updated by anonymous

The reason it is an acceptable deletion reason and not an acceptable flagging reason is because as an admin team we have more consistency and expected accountability whereas 100000 users will certainly not have the same reasonable amount of consistency

I know we are not perfect but if we allowed users to flag for these reasons, most would flag for personal preference, and as admins we don't need an already moderated post to resurface in the queue

I'd like some clarification on the advertising rules. Specifically, I flagged a picture that was basically just there to share a link to a site where you could buy artwork. But the flag was removed.

Im not contesting this, I'm just a bit confused on what constitutes advertising that violates posting rules. The info about it in the Rules section is very vague, since it's just the word "Advertising."

We usually allow advertising if it is the artist's own work within the post or the post description. We really just want to avoid people posting ads in comments and on the forum

Try e926.net. The SFW side of e621

Or blacklist "my_little_pony -rating:s" to hide all of that ("my_little_pony rating:e" if you don't mind seeing boobs)

Or you can put: my_little_pony original_character rating:safe in the search bar for SFW fan art

And you can put: "my_little_pony original_character rating:explicit" in your blacklist to avoid seeing the fan art porn

I wanna discuss tags. Why is when someone makes a new tag that is pretty much legit. That people go and remove such tags.

Just because it's new, doesn't mean other users can go and remove it even when it's valid.

I added a tag in recently for a commission that I got and uploaded. This was the tag I put in "Precum_on_self" How doesn't this tag exist when the "Cum_on_self" does?

Precum and cum are two different things. In the image I precumed on myself, though seriously you can see it clearly. I feel the need to re-add it again.

https://e621.net/post/show/442462/2014-anal-anal_penetration-anthro-argentfang-balls

Now I think this whole tagging system needs an overhaul mind you and new tags must be treated right as like the old long standing ones.

If you want to create a new tag, you have to discuss it in the forums first so that we can agree if it's valid or not

Updated by anonymous

New tags always start with one tag. If you feel it is the right tag to apply to a post, then apply it. If you feel it is a great tag that everyone should use and that it will apply to more than a handful of posts, suggest it in the forum for weighing in and suggestions. Sometimes we already have a similar tag doing the same job or sometimes it conflicts with another tag

In this case there is no evidence that your character simply doesn't have a high volume of cum. You cannot tell visually that the character is merely leaking precum instead of cum. Thus, that is a bad tag as it requires outside image evidence to tag, and there is already a tag that performs that function.

Feedback? Feedback.

Does the news box support DText? I ask this because sometimes it can be really long (as it is right now; well, maybe a bit) and takes too much space in the top of the page, specially on mobile or without too much vertical space on the screen.

Oh, there's still the issue where in some pages, the box displays past news (*annoying popupar girl voice* eww, they're sooo last update :P ). Currently, in this page, it has the one from 14/04/14, while on other pages it is the one from today.

One thing I'd recommend is to do a small change to the DNP list.

Artists with different aliases currently have them grouped together on one line. While this somewhat "declutters" the list a bit, it breaks the alphabetical structure that's currently set up.

So, in my case, I recently got burned because tktktk is on the list, but not where I expected them to be (next to Teekay, several lines up from where tk would have been in the alphabetical hierarchy) so I overlooked it and posted anyway.

There are several other artists who have an even bigger gap between aliases, some spanning half the alphabet.

It'd be nice to see each alias given its own line respective of its actual place in the alphabet, not based on whatever alias happens to be listed first.

That's not a surefire way as some artists use odd names that are easy to mistype or are very similar to other 'real' words that would defeat a simple browser search.

It's most likely because you need to use https, not http. You may also need to follow these instructions to get SSL calls working correctly. Hope that helps!
