Also if a friend moves away, since before we had guaranteed ways of communicating (letters aren't guaranteed), a friend moving could potentially be functionally the same as that friend dying (you have no idea how they are doing or when you'll see them again, IF you'll ever see them again). Social media has its downsides, but it helps prevent such things as losing a friend to long distance.

a fair point but you also have to take into consideration how much social media sites like facebook may be associated with terrorist groups and stuff. i dunno about you but i'd be looking into different sources that aren't used by terrorist organizations. much like with that hala food stuff, it's probably a safe bet that at least some of the money spent on that goes back over there. (that and it's crappy how they make it)

Anything can be used by terrorists. Anything. To be against something because the wrong people can abuse it is just assigning a scapegoat. Terrorists can also abuse things like the 1st Amendment and the right to a trial where guilt must be proven beyond reasonable doubt rather than just lack of evidence to the contrary, but that doesn't make the 1st Amendment or the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" a bad thing. Bad people will always find a way to abuse anything that exists, and there is no exception to this. It doesn't make the abused concept bad. It makes the people abusing it bad.

^^This, absolutely. It is the people who commit the abuses, not the things they used in order to do it, that are at fault. If someone walks into a mall with a minigun and starts mowing people down yelling "Oooowaaaaah, cry some moaaaaaar!" like the Heavy in Team Fortress 2 I'm not going to blame the minigun or the video game for the crime committed. I'm going to pin the blame squarely on the guy who committed the crime. Same for terrorists. If terrorists use FB to commit an act of terrorism, it's not FB's fault, it's still the terrorists' fault.

Too many people here in America blame the tools used to commit a crime rather than the human beings who used those tools to commit them.

True. Although I still think there is room for sensible weapon restrictions.

someone who suggests a tag in the comments then start making excuses to get out of adding the missing tags themselves (or fixing the tags if any are incorrect).

"Its because I did not Upload this"

this is not an excuse for such laziness. just because someone else uploaded something here does not mean the tags on that post are solely the uploaders responsibility. ಠ_ಠ

If it was, nothing would ever get done. Especially since some users will consistency add exactly 4 tags to their uploads to avoid getting reported for not adding enough tags, leading to grossly undertagged images. Chances are these users would add 0 tags if they were allowed to.

I actually asked pahel staff about it, and they told me not to use a bunch of generic tags. All that's important is the artist, position, and characters, pretty much, anything else is just tag spam.

oh this is just wonderful.

not only will java 1.8 work on my laptop but apparently i can't download older versions of java due to the following (page with this is here:

"July 2015: Updates for Java 7 are no longer available to the public. Oracle offers updates to Java 7 only for customers who have purchased Java support or have Oracle products that require Java 7."

damn, between you guys and firefox users. those who still use java on their computers are fucked in 2 ways. thanks to this, i can't re-install java on this laptop at all unless someone happens to know a site i could go and grab a copy of 1.7 from (a version...close to 1.8 maybe).

this means i can no longer run any java based games, use any java based web services, can't do anything related to java all because your limiting support for your product.

edit: this laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium btw (fat chance at me ever using 10 >.>)

It's a bit misleading. If you look around, there's still there, what they're saying is that they won't be posting any updates to it.

It's times like this when resources like MajorGeeks.com are a huge asset. Here's two links for you, because I don't know whether you have 64-bit or 32-bit Windows:

For 64-bit Windows: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/java_runtime_environment_(jre)_64_bit.html

For 32-bit Windows: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/java_runtime_environment_(jre)_32_bit.html

Also, here's the Google search I did which gave me these links:

https://www.google.com/search?num=30&newwindow=1&q=java+1.7+majorgeeks&oq=java+1.7+majorgeeks&gs_l=serp.3...712289.714323.0.714498.11.11.0.0.0.0.193.885.10j1.11.0....0...1.1.64.serp..0.10.815...0j0i67k1j0i22i30k1j33i21k1j33i160k1.CA9ETCrDFcg

I hope this helps.

Sorry for the double post, but I did have a gripe and I didn't want people thinking I was hating on Treos with this, so...

People on e621 who say that Paint.NET and Paint Tool SAI are the same thing as MS Paint. Just because the word "Paint" is in the name of the first two programs doesn't mean that they're the same thing or are in any way, shape, or form even remotely similar to Microsoft's uber-basic built-in image editor.

Will O The Wisps in TES4 Oblivion. For god's sake, Bethesda, why in the hell must I turn godmode on just to not intantly die when I get within a few hundred feet of one of these things?

Also, level scaling in general. I am sick to death of seeing lowly bandits in full Daedric armor and lowly goblins who can take 200+ fucking arrows to the face and then be all like "ohoh, that tickles" like the Hale in Saxton Hale mode of TF2. It's a goddamned RPG on "normal" difficulty, not fucking Serious Sam on Mental Difficulty. Please fucking make your games to where the combat and the enemies actually make some fucking sense.

And this is especially frustrating when I have a mod installed that is supposed to remove this kind of bullshit from the game. I'm reminded of Hitman: Absolution with its patch that "fixed" a "cheat" that allowed people to get the disguise system to actually work properly in the single player mode. If you wouldn't fuck your games up by design, people wouldn't be using these "cheats" to get the balance right.

I had an Orc char that would bulldoze through two dozen bandits in a dungeon then get one-shot'ed by a random lightning/frost mage. Not a quest boss or anything, just a generic mage running around.

YES! I hate how the world revolves around you with scaling! Have you tried the requiem mod for Skyrim? I like having to start off as regular sod, maybe having to lay a life plan for you to get some skills in which you could manage the unforgiving world.

In Oblivion I used a combination of Frencesco's Mod (no scaling apart from distance from towns) and Craftybits (Crafting mod that took advantage pf physically moving the objects, like actually grabbing the knife and physically moving it down onto a cheese wheel to get cheese slices.)

Ignorant people with access to fire make me angry like very few things in existence.

If someone uses an iron cast pan on a BBQ grill to make food they don't understand how a BBQ works and waste charcoal for nothing.

If someone uses an iron cast pan on a BBQ grill to deep fry shit in the pan they create a terrible fire hazard and should not be allowed to own a BBQ, oil, or anything else that's flammable.

i wonder how much these 2 guys i once saw on youtube would've angered you.

they took a case of cigarette lighters (one of those tray shaped carboard containers) and set it in some kind of bird cage thing or something (not sure exactly what it was) in their back yard then proceeeded to set the case on fire and watch the lighters explode from not far away (behind a friggin glass door of all things).

oh and before doing that, they put a single lighter in a bird bath or something and set it on fire.

note: these...mentally challenged...people were not using/wearing safety gear or equipment of any kind at all.

oh, heres the video in question. enjoy the rage. lol i'm surprised no one in that area had called the cops on them. wouldn't something of this level of stupidity warrant a felony or something?

edit: 1000 lighters in fire. right next to a bunch of cows! wtf is wrong with those guys? ಠ_ಠ

makes me wish people had the cops after them for that...and for animal abuse too.

This is why you don't let idiots play with fire or things that create it. It starts off as harmless fun sort of... and can end up in a bushfire wiping out several towns.

Actually, you can cook eggs and potatoes in a microwave. Takes 6-8 minutes for a half dozen eggs, and they'll pop so put something like a paper towel above them (obviously, this is done in a bowl, and w/o the shells...); potatoes are roughly the same w/o popping, but you should partially cut them or else they come out rubbery (I should have listened and cut it after cooking).

cook

verb

1. prepare (food, a dish, or a meal) by combining and heating the ingredients in various ways.

You can cook food in the microwave the same way you can on a stove or in an oven or over a fire or any other way to "apply heat"

The invalidating difference is what you put in the microwave, not what happens in it

If you cook a shitty microwave TV dinner in an oven it's still gonna be a shitty microwave TV dinner

I decided to use the NPC Static Level mod, and it seems to have helped.

Well, that and on my newest playthrough I'm only at level 6 because I wanted to start out with a strong character and I player.setav'd to Oblivion and back (pun intended) and now my character never levels up because all the skills I use are maxed out.

We ban people based on the rules they agreed to adhere to, we have talks with people before we ban them to hopefully steer them into a future without them being banned. But there comes a point where we have to bite the bullet and get rid of people because they cause numerous issues and are detrimental to the page at large.

oh, who am i kidding? of course it hasn't as that was likely a main intent behind the design of W10. so long as the system keeps working, no one gives a shit about all that info being gathered or the very likely shady things it's being used for.

actually, i bet microsoft still puts certain exploits and backdoor shit in new versions of windows specifically for the NSA. and that's no conspiracy theory.

that group named, Shadow Brokers. i wonder if that was inspired by the character in the Mass Effect game or just something they came up with on their own. it does seem like an interesting coincidence in the latter case.

tbh, unless it's something BIG like when the equation group got exposed, this stuff doesn't bother me much.

ERMERGERD, THE NSA IS SPYING ON US! *dons tin foil hat* yeah...except pretty much everyone knows that. that's not so much a conspiracy theory as it is an unpleasant fact. and microsoft helps them with the Windows OS. >.>

edit: ok, i am getting real sick and tired of your BS, sony. i don't give a FUCK about how YOU want me to use this PS4. if I want to listen to music off my mp3 player via the consoles media player during a game then that is MY choice. the damned devs can fuck off with this shit.

oh and after a system update not too long ago, the media player is also now locked to all users who don't have a PSN account.

and before someone says to unplug the mp3 player and listen to it that way, stop and think for a moment: how can i listen to BOTH the in-game audio AND music from my mp3 which is now unplugged using a single set of headphones?

this "giving the devs full control over what they can block" on the PS4 has got to be one of THE dumbest things to EVER happen to game consoles.

Dialogue has flexibity as far as grammar is concerned, but you should still make it a goal to allow a person to be able to read what you've written. It ain't us Grammar Nazi's you gotta worry about when you fuck that up, it's your own audience.

I'm not a big fan of those types of people either. They tend to forget that a lot of our enemies have nukes too and if we disarm, we'll be opening the door wide open for our enemies to nuke us. The only real way to assure peace is to prepare for war and be ready and willing to wage it at a moment's notice.

A lot of things. Mostly violence (I'm not talking about wars and stuff, I mean thugs, or when the government decides to start killing or sending all the gays to concentration camps, you know what I'm talking about), war crimes (they are separated from violence because war crimes are especially bad in most cases), pedophilia (and all the sexual stuff related to people below 18 really, even if the age of consent in that particular country is like 12) and people who *think* that they are protecting social justice, but actually they are just being assholes to others.
Still, I never attack anyone and always pretend to not care at all. Finally a place where I can say what I think, heh.

Absolutely. Now, I do think that the benefits of nuclear power are often overstated and its flaws ignored by its proponents, but that's probably because if they give an inch, their opposition would take a mile.

Everyone makes a big deal about nuclear waste, but honestly, solid waste held in a fenced-in location in the middle of the desert is not nearly as bad as pumping countless tons of coal into the air we and everything else breathes. The long-term effects of nuclear power are not going to bite anyone in the ass if there's no one left for them to affect. It pisses me off that so many environmentalists have opposing nuclear above coal on their agenda.

And now that I'm back from the laundry room, I've got another gripe: laundry machines that don't work properly and don't have any signs on them saying "out of order." When I put my clothes in on high temperature for 45 minutes I expect them to be hot and dry when those 45 minutes are up, but instead they're damp and cool to the touch.

And beyond that, all the machines are Maytags. When I was a child they used to advertise Maytag as being so reliable that the Maytag repairman had nothing to do. Nowadays though, the Maytag repairman apparently has so much to do that he never shows up, and when he does he never actually fixes the broken machines because there are so damn many of them.

Advertisements almost always exaggerate the quality of the product being advertised.

Washing machines dry clothes now? Every washing machine I've ever used leaves clothes slightly damp.

Not to mention it hurts their credibility.

the fact that whenever the topic of genital mutilation (circumcision) comes up in the news there's rarely ever so much as a mention of the male side of the topic.

sure, FGM is bad but MGM is by no means better.

i was reading through one of Gatestones monthly multiculturalism articles earlier this morning and noticed this in lengthy list of topics:

"March 7. The National Health Service (NHS) revealed that there were 2,332 new cases of female genital mutilation (FGM) in Britain between October and December 2016. That brought the total of new cases in 2016 to nearly 5,500."

not even the slightest hint of MGM statistics anywhere and they DO know it happens to both males and females. if there's one thing i definitely find offensive, it's that willful ignorance regarding a horrible, completely unnecessary, medical procedure.

and it doesn't matter which source the news comes from, it's almost always focused entirely on the female side of the problem.

actually, who knows if these FGM numbers are even accurate. everyone knows the government, police, and others try to suppress a LOT of information to some extent.

They also avoid revealing who exactly is doing most of the FGM and who is doing the most extreme forms of MGM. Here's a hint.

She said laundry machine, so I think she was referring specifically to the dryer.

Laundry machine and washing machine mean the same thing. Perhaps she's talking about a washer-dryer which does both?

A laundry machine just means a machine for laundry, either a washer or dryer, referring to both as a singular, or your linked.

comments on the video

12:36 2nd and 3rd pics: wtf? wow, talk about taking things to the extreme.

14:24 holy fuck, that sounds like the stuff nightmares would be made of. ಠ_ಠ i'm glad tl;dr didn't have any actual images of that to show. might make even me sick to my stomach if i saw something THAT bad.

14:52 wtf? you risk the death penalty for failing to undergo something extremely brutal...no, nevermind that comment. it's...it's the middle east, i should expect that much from such a place. moving on...

subincision...dude... wtf is wrong with you people?

17:25 well, ok, i guess the whole "primitive" thing can be used to explain those beliefs...somewhat. still quite f'ed up though. and...familiar sounding...

17:55 WOAH! am i hearing this right? O_O irl pedophilia penis_in_penis sex acts involving underage males? damn, australia... can't say i've heard of something like that happening irl before.

19:04 and wtf stuff

21:03 o_O natural urges are a "habit"? well, ok. i mean, the dude was crazy.

21:34 let's see... f'ed up, cruel, sadistic, completely insane...did i miss anything?

"Asylum for feeble minded children" not sure i even want to know. cruelty is likely a given i imagine.

disorder? geez, just how f'ed up was that man?

21:35 uh...primitive medical science and likely an era in which "quacks" were common.

23:47 oh goody, there's the idiotic "morality" claim.

23:52 actually, it likely INCREASES the chances of penile cancer (among other things like STDs and other unpleasant afflictions).

24:00 R. W. Cockshot? nice last name. lol but seriously, how many of these nutters did this for religion?

24:15 *looks down* if you were never circumcised, pinch yourself down there. if you WERE, same task. tell which of the 2 hurts more and we'll know who still has nerves in the part of their body and who...yeah... this claim is a flat out LIE and should NEVER be believed.

26:50 i'm sorry, WHAT?! it took mankind HUNDREDS of years to realize THAT? holy fuck, humanity is STUPID!

26:54 i dunno about god but this leads me to call into question how much your parents love you if they would allow you to suffer through such a traumatic experience.

31:07 no, it should be called what it is, mutilation.

31:42 -_- idiots

32:52 cause...that's exactly what it is.

i feel sorry for anyone whose parents allowed this to happen to.

"of course we love you. we'd never let anything bad happen to you."

right...of course you wouldn't, mom & dad...of course not. >.>

the more i learn about this...and what i was too young to remember (oh, thank goodness for that small miracle...kinda) the more it makes me hate those that perpetuate such practices and the more the knowledge sickens me.

oh, i have a reminder of my own as to why this should be stopped and why there is NO good reason for it at all.

The question still remains: Were you referring to a dryer or a washer-dryer?

That's because being anti-MGM is labeled as "Anti-Semitic" because Jews do it to their boys and we wouldn't want to offend "God's Chosen."

A few years ago I read an article on a medical experiment that was done which proved that MGM is actually excrutiatingly painful and torturous to infant boys. It was deemed "unethical" and the people who did the experiment were ordered to destroy the results or lose their jobs. MGM is the sacred cow of a lot of people's religious traditions, and they're not about to let hard evidence that MGM is cruel and unnecessary get in the way of their continued use of this barbaric practice in order to please their deity.

and it doesn't matter which source the news comes from, it's almost always focused entirely on the female side of the problem.

Favoritism of the female sex is nothing new in this regard. The same thing can be said about domestic abuse and rape: the victims are almost universally depicted as females and not males despite the mountains of evidence that show that this is simply not the case.

What are the odds that stopping someone from performing FGM would earn you the label "Anti-Islamic" or "Racist"?

Don't use the initialisms MGM and FGM. Spell it out every time: Male genital mutilation. Female genital mutilation.

Why? We all know what these initials mean (unless you can somehow mistake male circumcision for Metro Goldwyn Mayer), and they're heckuva lot easier to write out than the full names.

It has more impact. Someone has to read or hear GENITAL MUTILATION each time.

But this is just a forum, and we're just talking about stuff casually, it's not like we're in a debate or anything like that. Also, too much spelling things out will lessen the impact that you desire.

Liar. I was confused until I actually read the phrase "Genital Mutilation." True, Treos started off with the entirety of the phrase, but the first thing I saw was the abbreviation because capital letters stand out.

Also doesn't help that it's on the previous page.

Yeah, no.

You used an absolute "we all know...", which is incorrect since not everyone knew. You could call it a lie since it is not the truth, but I wouldn't call it a lie personally.
