The ??? is C2C and Goldfish. Not sure what the genre is, but that's what I'm listening to now.

But why trifle with Goldfish when you can have GODFLESH

I love my sister for getting me a free ticket to go see these guys with her in July!

EDIT: This was the first metal song I've heard, back when I played Tony Hawk Underground 2 on the Gamecube. I've been a metal head ever since.

I listen almost exclusively to soundtracks, most of them are game soundtracks.
Which means the genre can vary wildly, from jpop in TWEWY to orchestral pieces in Mario Galaxy or FEA.

Anyone else does as well?

Oh, absolutely! I made an (outdated) list of the video game music I have on the first page of this forum of the video game music I own. My mentality with music is that the best kind of music nowadays is video game music.

This website provides a great service to those hunting down certain albums.

And on a side note, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I'm liking the music from this...terrible movie.

you would probably LOVE post #78330 then. if you don't already listen to it some times.

yeah, i use that sometimes. helpful when you don't know much info on a soundtrack.

I have that favorited actually.
But I don't use my computer for music, so I haven't gotten much use out of that.

I somehow never find those db useful. Knowing the soundtrack is always the easy part. The hard part is actually getting them.

Jets 'n' Guns...omg...this has to be one of THE longest games of the side-scrolling shooter genre i have ever played. i just finished over 5 hours of continuous play of the gold version and i'm STILL not at the end. oh and apparently i've only unlocked like 5 of 12 (more maybe?) ships so yeah...LONG way to go.

it's no ikaruga or radiant silvergun but it's definitely a great side-scrolling shooter game. it's also a prime example of something i've always said about games: gameplay and content easily trump fancy graphics.

oh and this is a run on the lowest difficulty btw. yeah, easy mode and it still lasts so long.

Vektor is dope. If you haven't listened to them already, Voivod is a prime influence and is also fantastic in their own regard.

Great band, definitely one of the most interesting of the whole neo-thrash wave. While far from sounding like a clone of any, they're almost a natural evolution of the likes of Coroner, Watchtower and early Voivod (which I think compares a bit better than their modern outings) ...with the love child of Perseverance-era Chuck Schuldiner and freaking Schmier on vocals. You cannot deny Schmier's influence on DiSanto on the debut album in particular X)

I absolutely loved Black Future and thought Outer Isolation was great too, not as jam-packed with catchy hooks but still solid as balls. Both albums are about as atmospheric as you can honestly expect thrash to be, the long, sprawling songs and deep-space theme a breath of fresh air among the endless hordes of new thrash bands that seem content with recycling every Slayer, Kreator and Megadeth trick in the book from the '80s. Not that those can't be good.

Also...

Terminal Redux !!!

I don't follow metal as tightly as I used to, so this third album releasing actually escaped my attention (thanks @ImmortalityZen), but from the first 20 minutes it already sounds like they've done another kickass job! That choir took me by surprise, heh.

Yeah, everyone I've heard has said that it's their favorite album of 2016, at least so far. Considering that Fates Warning, Vader, and Sabaton are also releasing new albums, we'll see if that stays the same.

huzzah! i managed to get a copy of windows 3.1 installed through dosbox with no problems last night after carefully following a guide i found. ^.^

now i can at long last revisit old games such as Mordor: Depths of Dejenol, in all their ancient MIDI audio glory. i've been wanting to play that and some other old games for years, well now i can and i also bookmarked the page with the setup guide i used for if anyone else needs it.

The Gran Turismo soundtracks are an interesting bunch, especially with those for GT5. A healthy amount of classical piano tracks that seem odd for a racing game, but actually fit for an aura of calmness.

Okay, here's another song from my new list. Not at all obscure.

Johnny Cash - Hurt

Guitar (with piano) and somber lyrics. It's a cover of Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt". This is a song (and video) that is enough to move people to tears.

quite a good song as i thought.

Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire (Official Video)

I'm surprised you haven't heard it earlier. "We Didn't Start the Fire" is one of the ubiquitous classic rock songs alongside the likes of "Paint it Black", "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Dream On".

Also, you're an un-American Commie if you don't listen to the entire song once you start it, just so you know.

ok, wth? i just went through several albums for Wild Arms 2 trying to find the track used in this playlist. even went so far as to check OCRemix which only turned up 1 track...and even that wasn't a match. so where the heck is the "Battle VS Lord Blazer" track in this playlist from?

it's not an OCRemix...remix. it's not in the Wild Arms 2nd Ignition Drama CD album. nor the Wild Arms 2nd Ignition Extended Score album nor the Wild Arms 2nd Ignition Original Soundtrack album NOR the Wild Arms 2nd Ignition Portrait - 10th Anniversary Album album.

the track in the playlist is 4:46 long (longer than any versions in these albums) too. did i miss a version in some other wild arms album or something?

and it's not the arranged album either as that only has like 5-10 tracks and none of which match up.

edit: ok, so apparently it's afan version or something. found it here on youtube.

Still the most badass song ever written about unicorns

symptom of the universe, a love that never dies yeahueahhhh

you would not believe how long it was just listening it on candlemass's sabbath medley before finally tracking down the original, and I still remember the day I finally heard it because that's the same day I found out e6 had a forums feature (and of course the first thread I saw was the one leading up to the mascot changer)

'Symptom' is probably my favorite Sabbath song with Ozzy because it can be considered one of the first songs that resembles thrash metal, along with Queen's 'Stone Cold Crazy'.

Isn't it great when you can summarize an entire decade's aesthetic ethos within a 2-minute video

"The song as originally recorded was deemed too short for a single. That's why it sounds like it ends and then begins again."

Im going to tell all you people about the wonders of Queen.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a classic that even kids today know.
You're My Best Friend was in a Petco (I think) commercial not that long ago.
I think we can all agree that Queen has had a lasting impact on the music industry.

speaking of Queen, i happen to have Queen's 2011 - 40th Anniversary (Remastered, LE, SHM-CD Japan) (30CD) on my laptop. it is 4.57GB in size (mp3 mind you. multiply by around 4 to get the flac size >.>). albums included are:

1973 - Queen (2CD)
1974 - Queen II (2CD)
1974 - Sheer Heart Attack (2CD)
1975 - A Night At The Opera (2CD)
1976 - A Day At The Races (2CD)
1977 - News Of The World (2CD)
1978 - Jazz (2CD)
1980 - Flash Gordon (2CD) (this is the soundtrack :P)
1980 - The Game (2CD)
1982 - Hot Space (2CD)
1984 - The Works (2CD)
1986 - A Kind Of Magic (2CD)
1989 - The Miracle (2CD)
1991 - Innuendo (2CD)
1995 - Made In Heaven (2CD)

counting cover art for each album and a few other files, that is somewhere around 591 files total. just over 2 decades of glorious Queen music all in one collection. :P lol

Updated by anonymous

you know, Queen's one of those bands I've literally never heard anything bad about and even still I've yet to really check out a full album....should probably change that today

treos you got me thinking whatever happened to all my old boxsets....at a certain point (probably right after ripping to mp3) physical sets lose a certain amount of relevance, but still make nice bookends regardless

anyone have any favorites boxsets? without a doubt mine has to be Join The Dots: B-sides & Rarities 1978-2001)
also just over 2 decades and makes the disappearance of flipside ephemera all the more lamentable, since the best tracks are usually those that don't fit the album but are too good to go unreleased anyway

Bond - Allegretto

Classical Crossover - basically classical with some pop influence. Heard this on a video of Potholer54's, had to look up the full song.

Also, can I just say? I absolutely despise the color-shifting thing in the video. You see it everywhere and it's terrible. Just a pet peeve of mine, I guess, but still.

I only listen to music when I'm out, or playing basketball with friends or when I draw on pc.
Type of music that I usually listen is pop and techno.
Few my favourite singers are:Wiz Khalifa, Afrojack, Avicii, Calvin Harris and I can't remember more.

though quaaludes have since picked up a stigma that probably won't ever be shaken (thanks to that prick cosby) their era of music will always be number one to get SKKKYYYYY HIIIIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

peripherally interesting that just half an hour ago I had the preamp maxed out when some jet pulled a flyby at what seemed like 10 feet over my window, and despite shaking the very foundation it not only miraculously didn't skip but for one brief moment it seemed like the combined volume could bring to orgasm on sonic pressure alone.... rather apropos given the air travel theme hinted at in the video
