dude, you could probably pick up an original gameboy with some prongs and hold it in a fire for several seconds, let it cool fully and it still might work. assuming the plastic case held back most of the heat.

Ewwww, non-class-specific Legendaries. Top comment is even how trash it is.

I have a terrible habit of always giving out free shit on WoW. Probably gave over 20K gold, ten craftables, and God knows how many charm bracelets just this week.

i've read about that one before and that particular case is rather suspicious. a big reason as to why is...why is the screen still in perfect condition? seems like it could be they simply swapped the plastic case with a damaged one and fabricated the story behind it. it's entirely possible that that is the true story behind it.

heres hoping Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Nioh are less crappy than the past several PS4 games i've tried.

sword art online: lost song was a crappy game (port?) with graphics that looked prectically ps2/ps3 era, crap dungeon design, and reused/palette swapped monsters throughout the entire game.

SAO:hollow realization on the other hand was a much greater game overall in comparison.

dragon quest heroes is basically dragon quest done by the makers of the dynasty warriors franchise. on the dragon quest side of the equation there was quite literally barely ANY new content throughout the entire game. maybe 1-5% of the content and resources used was new. seriously, enix, wtf is with you people? the goku hairstyle hasn't been new since DB first aired decades ago...even farther back for the manga. make some new resources for the dragon quest franchise and stop reusing the same shit you used in the NES/GBA games. it really is THAT rare to see actual NEW resources in that franchise.

dragon quest builders: same as heroes but minecraft style this time which worked out surprisingly well. definitely worth playing through and it does have a sandbox mode...with the content unlocked as you progress through story mode and finish challenges. the graphics look great, good textures, everything looks nice and smooth.

...again with no new resources though. :( and i mean NONE this time aside from maybe the builder you play as and some of the craftable items. it does have an interesting story though. won't spoil but it's basically an AU ending to the original dragon quest.

also, F you Rubiss. i AM a hero in this game you LIAR! if it wasn't for the players intervention you would have doomed the world waiting for you hero. uh...slight spoilers there but not much.

star ocean: integrity and faithlessness was a step forward from the previous game in some ways (having the combat all happen in real-time and out on the field was a good step forward) and a step back in others.

the last time i saw trees where the leaves were 2d layers was the last time i played King's Field on psx. i may not normally care much for fancy graphics but to see that on the ps4...shame on you. and don't think i missed your pathetic attempts at hiding the lack of emotion on the character models via overly animated flailing of arms and stuff. most of this games art budget obviously went to prettying up the character models while the landscape, trees, and textures in general lagged behind with low res textures.

and the final boss (not spoiling)... did you people even test that fight properly at all? just go on the gamefaqs forums for the games and see how many threads are about the boss's event scripts failing to trigger properly or how it gets stuck on the battlefields white walls.

they may not have said what the games budget was but it was clearly a low one.

god eater 2: rage burst... psp port. had several added missions but pretty much unchanged.

Dark Souls 3: pretty good overall. awesome HD graphics. overall i enjoyed it but i did hate how they F'ed up the armor in the game. basically, if you want to raise your defense you need to grind souls and lvl up. yep, armor no longer adds to your defense but rather it gives a % resistance which blocks that % of incoming damage. all of your defense stats are derived directly from your stats. even getting Havel the Rock's armor will not raise your defense a single point.

also, smaugh's armor does not fit the players character model at all. it clips badly and just looks ugly in general. and...it doesn't do much of anything for defense like all other armors.

if i get the chance i'm just going to buy DS2: Scholar of the first sin edition. at least armor is armor in that game.

Eh, I'm unaware of hunter rotations and play styles. For the most part it's kind of pointless except for the 940 base stats. Half your attacks should be doing more than its activation effect, though the aoe isn't horrible. There just aren't many times in cutting edge raids where there's a group of trash around for a long time. I'd probably just leave it out of my action bars and not let it mess with my rotation. Then again, I just tried to bug spray a parched snakeroot, so what the fuck do I know? But congrats on the Legendary, at least the Blizz RNG demon showed some mercy on your soul.

My main got the two best class-specific legendaries for my rotation within my first week of legion. But that unfortunately added Aman'thul essence grinding to the other million grinds of WoW.

Surv hunters lack great AoE, save from talents, so having a 800k AoE is a good, heavy hit on multiple things that need to die. Like, Ambassador D'vwinn, who spawns with three packs of mobs nearby that have 1.5m hp, they are impossible to burn down fast enough without the rare patting your way or aggro'ing the rest. With this trinket and Butchery, you'll burn them down in 4 seconds, and can feign to reset the others.

It's just a good trinket to kill trash with, garbage mobs that still kill you if you're the only one they're focusing on. If I had choice, I would have picked The Shadow Hunter's Voodoo Mask because, especially as a Surv, hunters lack healing.

and for the people who say I am complaining, two things: Surv hunters are gods of PvP because of traps and flanking strike & mongoose strike comboing, and survivalist only procs off of a kill, unlike so many other passives, and marksman don't even get that...

I'm very impressed with For Honor, I will admit it does have its issues. I feel that the story mode could've been far better.

Adding to the list of things people can laugh at me for, I still play Destiny. Not nearly as much as I used to, though. I've been trying for weeks to get Trespasser, and the game just refuses to give it to me. Last week, 3 people in my team got it from our Raid. Every engram I hand in becomes Telesto. My Nightfall rewards are mostly Strange Coins. It really sucks getting kicked in the dick repeatedly.

Once I get my gaming PC back, I'll probably get back to Battlefield 1. Looking forward to the French DLC. Plus Total War: Warhammer gets Bretonnia for free at the end of the month.

Also planning on getting back into flight games this summer, once I have a job and cash for upgrades. I need a new HOTAS, and I'm torn between being sensible and getting a Saitek X55, and burning money on a Thrustmaster Warthog. I want to get into Star Citizen, when it's in a slightly more playable state.

Not sure. Nintendo's been a disappointment for the last few years imo. Haven't really liked the Zelda games since TP - PH. The last really good Marios were the galaxies. I loved SSBB and Mario Kart Wii but can't stand B4 or the new Mario Kart. And don't even get anyone started on how they've ruined Mario Party.

Plus, no one goes to Nintendo consoles for addon and social features; they're the absolute worst at that. I'm gonna hold off unless something interests me to the point of thinking it's worth it.

For the first time in a long while, I'm excited for some games.

First off, I play an ungodly about of FTL: Faster Than Light (and I've gotten pretty good at it too, I'm proud to say!).

So imagine my excitement when I found this:

http://subsetgames.com/itb.html

A new game, by the same group, that looks really cool. Yes. Yes please!

Also, I'm excited for Yooka Laylee coming up soon.

Other than that, I've been playing old games. I played Super Metroid for the first time, and I was very impressed. I've also been playing Donkey Kong Country 3, which some people say isn't that good, but I'd disagree - it only seems bad in contrast to its predecessors. It's still a solid game, even if it does have... Ech, Kiddie Kong.

I really cannot fucking wait to play it myself. I should finally be getting a PS4 sometime this month, and I'm definitely shooting to get For Honor with it.

I'm probably going to make the human version of my fursona, Solarus, as my main there - A gunslinger, to be sure. Of course this always depents on a lot of things, for example I already have Wii U, high end gaming PC and PS4 Pro to play most recent games, but in this case I would say nope at least during launch window.

Of course I avoid getting consoles in the launch anyway, because there are less games and it's initial system version which will get updated and improved and stores start to have more frequent and deeper sales over time. However in Switch case there's almost no games at launch, the couple that are coming are either multiplat, really uninteresting and couple left do not justify getting whole machine. Peripherals are also too expensive and pretty sure I can't use them on PC like I do playstation and xbox peripherals. I'm not entirely sure about stocking the console, but it almost feels like they realized with amiibos and nes mini to keep things understocked so that nintendo fanbois pay and hype it more.

At least they are using standards with cable and storage, that's already way much better than my dust gathering vita has.

A legendary is a legendary as long as it is not Prydaz or Sephuz's. Though even those two aren't as bad anymore with their buffs.

I must warn you, it's not a hack and slash game. Its alot more like a fighting game or a moba. Every character has different combos and feels different. Even if they are the same class. For example the raider and the warden feel extremely different from eachother. So if you find a character you like, do some research on them to be that much better.

Some of my favorite builds and item sets in Grim Dawn have been rendered extremely unfun to play by balance passes. Really don't entirely understand why there's so much focus on "muh balance" in a largely single-player game. At least with MechWarrior Online I EXPECT balance fuckery.

I've been getting back into Monster Hunter Generations. Only on 4-star quests in single player. Wearing Tetsucabra armor and generally using most of the Blademaster weapons.

There have certainly been interesting leaks early on this round. One of the native texture formats(Nine Just Dance 2017 tex), three early sdk docs, menus, even devmenu screens.

And the dev hardware(SDEV/EDEV) is only $450 / $500.

Simpler to develop/port then PPC ever was is as well.

Well it does have a multiplayer element to it, even if it's not a competitive one.

More importantly it's a fairly hardcore game that's meant to maintain a certain amount of challenge.

There is NO REASON Blackwater Cocktail deserved a swatting with the nerfstick.

The nerf to the Markovian set was debatable. Don't really think Markovian's was OP, especially not compared to Warborn.

Aside from the microSD and 32 GB internal, it has a proprietary cartridge slot, which I thought was interesting.

A game that requires more storage than the entire Switch has is coming. The stolen Switch was found to use 6.1 GB for the OS. So it has only about 25.9 GB for games. Dragon Quest Heroes I and II requires 32 GB. Hopefully that means it fits on any cheap 32 GB microSD card, and you don't have to bump it up to 64 GB.

I actually already have 128 GB SD card on my New 3DS XL, but when talking about this kind of console and I prefer to get my games digitally, 32 GB base is ridiculous.

Also funny story, because at least my Wii U is more picky about external HDD than my cat is about their food, I have 2 TB external connected to it, because all other models failed to work, one even working until one update from nintendo but luckily got my save files rescued - because for some reason someone though it's good idea to keep saves attached with all game data, so they are on external and not internal.

I would really like to love nintendo, but they are just so fucking awful at everything else than making games.

I'm actually really looking forward to this one, played the demo with PS4 and I had really great time, was even laughing myself a bit when the fighting felt so good, always good reminder why I love playing games. Everyone with PS4 should definitely try out the demo.

However I usually don't like to get myself hyped for stuff or specifically wait for stuff to come out, because of how fuckton of stuff I already have and need to get trough at some point.

Another issue is that I prefer getting my games on PC, at least right now release date for PC seems to be "2017", so I'm not exactly in need to keep myself hyped for whole year. When it comes out, I'll buy it and if for some reason they cancel the PC version, I'll look it up from PSN sale.

I do actually have US and JP accounts as well to get region exclusive stuff. Basically all local accounts can have single PSN account linked to it from any region and all accounts can play other users installed games, excluding some individual titles. Also works with PS3.

With US account this is easy, but japan makes UI japanese so you may need some tuto with that one. However for the issue in hand, I'm almost certain the issue is store application on PS4 sucking balls.

Also a Gunslinger main. Though I do have to admit, its a pretty one-note class. Its only real function in most teams is pegging Majors and Bosses with Golden Gun. After Tripmines were nerfed, they got the second most mediocre grenade set after Stormcallers. Throwing Knife is probably the worst melee in the game. Besides the buffs to weapon stability and reload speed on precision kills, it doesn't do much else. Still, after they gave Golden Gun an 80% damage buff (and an extra 30% if you use the Deadeye perk), it became an extremely potent Super. Just build your class around it- Bad Juju and a helmet with Inverse Shadow gives you tons of extra super charge per kill. Circle of Life gets extra charge from Throwing Knife precision kills. Use those and max your Intellect stat and you can use it every couple minutes. Achylophage Symbiote gives it an extra shot. Celestial Nighthawk makes it fire one shot with 6x damage, letting you sink a metric fuckton of damage into a boss.

Nightstalker is worth leveling too, though. Shadowshot granting your team bonus damage and spawning extra Orbs of Light is indispensable, and I always prioritize it if my Raid team doesn't have another Nightstalker. Bladedancer is trash and not worth using for anything anymore.

I never thought to check the "Demo" section of the store

Gameplay was extremely good, by the way. Aside from "the obvious", I love the fact you can dodge out of really long combos. That's something future games like this REALLY need.

FFXV:

didn't bother to mention this before but to any who try this game. why is there a white wall when you jump? no, seriously. you can be running around and even when on a flat surface, if you jump and keep holding forward in one direction your momentum will suddenly stop entirely past a certain point. it's even easier to see when you jump off of something at a higher altitude (see the point below for why that too is an issue). why did they white wall jumping? that's just really weird.

no game really comes to mind where the jumping mechanic featured a white wall aspect. o_O

and for that matter, why fall damage? XIII had no fall damage when lightning and others might jump off a cliff or something. yeah...careful of how far you fall in XV or you'll be taking fall damage like in skyrim and other games that have this feature.

Weird how did I not notice that? As for fall damage at least to me the characters in some final fantasy games seem more super human than in others, so perhaps they were trying to go more realistic in XV. Plus lighting did have the grav con unit in the beginning of the game.

This is in no small part because designers of many notable multiplayer games use Skinner Box-style operant conditioning to keep players playing longer than they would otherwise.

it's not too noticeable if your jumping around a flat area or uphill but if you jump off of something (like all those rocks in the threevalleys region) going downwards then it's easily noticeable as you just stop completely at a certain distance.

:( such a shame theres pretty much no exploration at the end of the game. to explore the land with demons pretty much every 5 steps or so... lol they could've put some uber bosses in that part of the game. >:)

well, there is 1 uber boss type of enemy but it's part of a hunt i think. do you recall how big Long Gui was in XIII? well, he may be tall but hes NOTHING compared to the adamantoise! lol

is this a mountain or is it something truly incredible? that's right, the Adamantoise of XV is literally THAT massive. and it has so much HP that when i first encountered it and summoned Ramuh, even Ramuh's judgement bolt attack barely hurt it.

note, the map i took that from was a full size copy of that continent map in-game that someone pieced together with screenshots (one of thos HUGE maps like the one for symphony of the night.

this map is an impressive 14.7MB JPEG, 19843 x 11339 resolution (size). and that's just ONE of the games 3 continent maps!

Anyone play Destiny or have been playing it since it first came out? I doubt there are many of us left especially those who don't play competitive multiplayer.

Not many games this gen catch my attention anymore. I get burnouts more frequently since games don't seem to interest me because they're all the same now.

Ahem...

Anyone played American truck simulator? I have,it's good. Only thing is that the trailers seem to get stuck on things at times. Right now it's California,Nevada and Arizona truck sim. I wonder when scs will release dlc for the other lower 48 states, including Canada and Mexico.

This is in no small part because designers of many notable multiplayer games use Skinner Box-style operant conditioning to keep players playing longer than they would otherwise.

pay-to-win games with micro-transactions are quite likely THE worst thing game devs have EVER created. it is very rare to see a game dev do it right (like those who made path of exile where non of the micro-transaction stuff touches game balance or gives an unfair advantage) as opposed to those who are simply milking it for a quick buck while never fixing any bugs/glitches/etc. and just leaving it for dead when they tire of it.

my first reaction whenever i see a game listed as free-to-play is to check if it has micro-transactions followed by checking if that results in the game being pay-to-win. if it's pay-to-win then i ignore the game, move along, and advise against such games.

mexico isn't a state so that'd be the other 47 states.

Pretty sure he meant Canada and Mexico in addition to the Lower 48 states (ie, states besides Alaska and Hawaii)

Been playing with consoles lately a lot and majority of PC stuff has been indie level, so not like I'm taking much advantage of this right now, but it's nice to hit over that 100 FPS mark whenever game supports it.

i don't like this old laptop, i HAAATE it! ಠ_ಠ

using a laptop is like using a video game console as a pc. you can just BARELY upgrade it (drivers...maybe) and when it starts deteriorating your left with an increasingly frustrating piece of tech.

the integrated keyboard has LONG since stopped being usable. the integrated chipset it uses as a substitute for a real video (graphics?) care greatly limits what you can run on it past a certain age.

i can run diablo II. i can run everquest 2 and even RIFT at decent graphics without lag or slowdown. skyrim? oh, it'll run just fine but the framerate is that of an abomination (BAD!).

shader something version 3.0+? any and i mean ANY game that uses this is completely off limits even if all other system requirements are more than met.

if i can get another big, expensive (FYI $400+ is expensive for us), present for christmas this year. i might go for a new pc...but it'd still be a maybe as to whether or not i can actually get one.

I should buy one as soon as I can stop wasting money on weapons, I don't know who I'm trying to fool here I'll never stop buying new weapons.

I used to run a 3570k with a cheap mainboard and a GTX 680 my dad borrowed from his workplace. Upgraded to the Z97, 1070, and Devil's Canyon last summer. It can hold 60FPS on ultra settings in pretty much every game I play. Honestly, its overkill, since I'm still stuck with 1080p, but having the insurance is nice.

There are plenty of non-indie games to push your graphical capabilities. My aforementioned Total War: Warhammer and Battlefield 1 will be a nice stress test (any game in those series is, really)

Depends on your definition of good. Mine's a pretty beefy mid-range build, and part by part, will set you back probably 700-800 dollars. But I run Intel/Nvidia parts, and splurged early for the 1070 a month or so after it came out. And don't let "mid range" make you think its only average. Like I mentioned above, I max out Battlefield 1 without any notable framerate drops. I could probably upgrade my monitor from 1080p/60FPS to 1440p/144FPS with that setup. The only way it could be better is with a GTX 1080 or Titan P card, and an i7 processor, but those two parts would tack on another 400.

PC gaming, in terms of cost to performance, is in a pretty good spot and only getting better. The GTX 1070 beat out last generations 980ti and Titan cards at 2/3 to half the price. AMD's good for budget builds, and their new lineup of Ryzen CPUs next week, plus Vega cards this summer, will match Intel's top tier products at a drastically reduced price (if the benchmarks line up). With a Ryzen 5 or 3 CPU, RX 480 card, and budget board/RAM/power supply, you could get a decently powerful PC for 500 dollars or less that still far outperforms consoles. Even if you can't drop that much up front, its also possible to get a sub-300 PC with older parts and upgrade it over time, which is what I did.

So that will be another problem for me, I understood very little of what you just said. I don't know shit about PCs the last computer I had was a white one back when the internet was just dial up and apart from briefly using more modern ones at school that is the extent of my experience with a PC. I guess that's why might be stuck playing console I buy it and then play games on it it's very simple for me.

A quick google search for "Premade gaming pc" reveals a site that caters to people seeking such a thing, looks like their cheapest ("For gamers without breaking the bank") is just under $900.

My first gaming dedicate PC costed me 300€, it was AMD APU build (integrated GPU which was as powerful as dedicated card) and took some things like case, disc drive and power supply from local recycling center. Could play games with low-medium from 30-60 FPS.

So it depents on what you are willing to pay or want to get. To get medium range try to get ~600€, higher end ~1000€ and of course you don't have to buy everything right away or be most amazing, just upgrade when you want/need.

And yes, most PC places offer their own prebuilds, part picking + assembling services and there's even dedicated sites just for this stuff. It's not harder than building with legos when you get the parts picked.

Building a PC sounds scary at first because big words and numbers, but its not as complicated as one would expect. Central Processor with a compatible motherboard and a graphics card are the big three parts. Add a power supply that won't explode, hard drive with a decent amount of storate space, and at least 4 GB of RAM, then screw them into a case. Putting the parts together is fairly intuitive, and the motherboard/PSU have instructions on how to wire everything. Like the guy above me said, its like Legos. Just find someone who knows what they're talking about for hardware reviews- PCGamer, Linus Tech Tips, PC Master Race subreddit, etc. and they can get you on the right track.

Don't do prebuilts, though. They reeeeeally like to price gouge on those, hence the misconception that you need 1000+ to compete with consoles. I will admit that software setup can be difficult, but knowing how to build and repair computers is just a valuable skill to have this day and age.

Huh I guess a pc sounds doable although there are a lot of options for parts which isn't a bad thing but it seem overwhelming to me as I don't even know what they do. Thanks RJDodger for suggestions for hardware reviews and everyone else for your advice. Physically building it once I have the parts is not a concern I'm a jeweler for fun, making tiny finicky stuff is where I excel.
Once I actually turn the thing on I'll be stuck again, I need my brothers help to open a word document and printing said document and I'll be honest typing as well, but that's his job so he'll know how it works.
One more question, how noticeable a difference is there between medium and higher range parts? I rather enjoy buying the best available but I have no idea what I'm paying for in this case.

NP. I'm willing to help you get a parts list together, if you've got a budget in mind.

The difference between mid-range and high-end/enthusiast hardware depends on the game, how its optimized, and your display. A decent benchmark is frames per second across several games. If you look at PCGamer's review of the GTX 1070 , you can see a bunch of different cards and their relative framerate differences. Simply put: Every card from the R9 390 and below would be lower mid-range to budget, for the time. Everything above it would be upper mid-range (980, Nano, and Fury) or high-end/enthusiast (Fury X, 980ti, Titan X, 1080). The 1070 was nice because it competed at that level for 400 dollars, whereas the current high-ends ran from 600 to over 1000 dollars at the time.

With the new lineup of cards that have and are coming out, budget cards like the GTX 1060 and 1050ti, or the RX480 and 470, run at about the level of the GTX 980 on that graph for 250 dollars or less. If all else fails, older generations of graphics cards are pretty cheap (in the 100 dollar range), but you'll be running your games on low settings and maybe some framerate drops.

CPUs are a bit more complicated. Clock speeds is their benchmarks, but I don't have a handily available graph to chart the differences across current chips. Clock speeds, measured in gigahertz, is how many mathematical calculations it can perform in one "cycle," though how long those cycles take varies between CPUs. So two processors can have a 3.5 GHZ clock speed, but one can still perform better than the other. This spreadsheet has relative, but somewhat ambiguous, scores on the performance of all current processors. For a mid-range build, any Intel i5 is a good price-to-performance standpoint. I got my i5 4690k for 200 dollars. K processors means they're "unlocked" and can be overclocked for a faster clock speed- I have mine running at 4.2 GHZ versus a base clock speed of 3.5 GHZ.

With AMD's new processors coming out, prices on Intel's CPUs are already dropping. We'll have to wait for official reviews to be released before any real comparisons can be made, though.

how kind of you to offer but I haven't really considered building a pc before now so I don't even have a budget yet. However I feel I'd want at least an upper mid range pc and estimating from the information you provided that would be over a thousand dollars correct? I could do that more so if I go halfsies with my brother.
Now I have another question how often is it necessary to up-grade a pc? With consoles a new generation comes out every five to six years it seems but I suspect the technology develops much faster then that.

I have been using this same PC since 2012 and I'm still getting the performance I want out of this. Almost all upgrades have been because I have had extra money or wanted just slightly more out of the machine, so nothing has been exactly necessary.
Main ones being new GPU (bought year ago) and peripherals like display (144Hz), keyboard (to mechanical) and mouse (from optical to laser).

Your budget is really just what you feel comfortable spending, relative to the performance you're hoping to get. I drew up this build on PC Part Picker in the 1000 dollar range. Its close to mine, and pretty damn powerful, if that's in your budget range. Should be able to max, or come close to maxing, all current games at 1080p, with possible upgrades to 1440p in the future. Its fairly future proof, and VR ready if you win the lottery or something. Costs could be cut a little bit with a different CPU and motherboard, without sacrificing too much performance (you'd just have to run on High instead of Ultra)

As for upgrading, PC part development is basically constant marginal gains, so the per-part upgrade cycle is about on par with full console upgrades. But the nice thing is that not upgrading doesn't lock you out of current games, and CPU and GPU improvements are staggered so you don't really need to upgrade both at the same time.

Sorry if I'm getting carried away. I do this kind stuff for fun (plus I'm an IT major, so it'll end up being my job)

"Sands of Time," "Death Alternative," "SexLab Defeat," "Defeat DA"
Despite what that list may look like, I personally always find myself on the winning side for quite a while. It's just fun to eventually suffer from the Defeat mod.
(But if you're only looking for the SFW stuff, just go for the first two)

There are more but I can't remember.)

looks like my next 2 games from gamefly WON'T be dragon ball xenovers 2 and nioh but rather skyrim special edition and watchdogs. oh well, maybe those will come up later.

and speaking of skyrim, i have heard you can use mods for it on ps4. o.O if i CAN do that, anyone have some good suggestions? seeing as it's the special edition version (gamefly sure is good about offering the best version of games. :)) it'll probably come with all the expansions and stuff so no worries there.
