When a character has markings or patterns applied to their body with paint.

In many cases these are very simple designs such as lines around legs or arms, stripes, a "mask" across and around the eyes, bars under the eyes, hand prints, paw prints, stars, hearts, diamonds, arrows and so on. Alternatively, these markings may imply affiliation with a tribe or group, they may be flag patterns or pride colours, or may be complex designs intended to evoke objects or clothing.
