shaved ice
Shaved ice is just that: ice scraped off of a big brick of the stuff with a knife, producing snow. It can be then flavored with syrup and served as a snow cone, or thrown at someone not expecting a snowball in the middle of summer. It has a much finer grain than crushed ice, which generally stays in chunks about the same size as ice cubes.
