Margaret Borowski (better known as Mae), is the main character of Night in the Woods, an adventure video game developed by Infinite Fall and Secret Lab. She is an anthropomorphic cat with dark blue fur, red eyes, dyed red hair, and a notched ear. In the game, she wears an orange shirt with red sleeves and a slashed zero symbol, dark grey jeans, and boots.

Mae is 20-year-old college dropout who returns to her childhood hometown of Possum Springs to reconnect with her former life before college, and spend time with her old friends Bea, Gregg, and Angus. Hanging onto her nostalgic feelings is problematic however, as she quickly finds that her old town and even her friends have already began to change from how she remembered them. Despite her love for her friends and her energetic nature, Mae's troubled past and her various mental and emotional issues that she tries to repress cause her to act out in unhealthy ways.
