The ankh, also known as the key of life, key of the Nile, crux ansata, or ansatic cross, was the Egyptian hieroglyph for the consonants '-n-h and meant "eternal life". It resembles a cross with a loop over the crossbar.

Often graphically synonymous with Egypt, the ankh is also associated with pagan, New Age, and neo-pagan religions, as well as the occult.
