A "crack ship" is a relationship between two characters that is implausible, bizarre and intended to be humorous. For the sake of making this tag useful, this should be limited to crossover relationships which that are particularly "odd" and funny

What is NOT a "Crack Ship"

Because the broader definition of this term would make this tag unusable, and subjective

A post depicting a relationship between two character from the same piece of media, that would be odd from a fan or writing standpoint should not be tagged as crack_ship
A crossover image of two characters from different media in a relationship is not automatically a "crack ship", even if the two pieces of media don't share much in common

Features of "Crack Shipping"

Usually involves pairing characters that are considered "inherently funny" to see in sexual or serious romantic scenarios

e.g. Spongebob Squarepants, Shrek, Minions, Jar Jar Binks, Garfield, characters from The Simpsons or Family Guy
More generally, characters with no sexual features at all (such as robots or living vehicles)

Often involves a "serious" character, and a comedic character
A crack ship is intended to not make much sense, the characters will have very little in common from a species, thematic, aesthetic, or personality standpoint that might make a non-crack crossover relationship "make sense"
A crack ship may be a meta joke about the two media properties, actors that voice the characters, or some other kind of pun

The dissonance between the two characters might be enhanced by the characters having entirely different art styles and proportions that clash. In other cases, it may simply be a difference in genre or tone between the pieces of media the characters are from.

In some cases, a crack ship can be a meme, such as the recurring fan art of Isabelle from Animal Crossing, and the Doom Slayer from DOOM being paired off romantically or sexually due to the release of Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing New Horizons on the same day. Another popular meme crack ship is mordetwi, featuring Mordecai from Regular Show and Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which more often than the previous example, leans into the bizarre nature of the crossover.
