"Voluptuous" — for tagging purposes on e621 — describes a feminine curvy figure with especially wide hips and thick thighs, a generally "thick" or "wide" waist/midsection (while still narrower than the hips), big breasts, and naturally, a big butt. Voluptuous characters can be described as "full figured" or "thick". This tag should only apply to female, gynomorph, and herm characters.

Voluptuous characters are very often slightly chubby or overweight — carrying their weight around their belly, thighs and hips; less commonly, a character with a voluptuous figure may be athletic or muscular with defined, toned muscles, while also having the curves and "thickness" that defines a voluptuous figure.

Example of a voluptuous and muscular character

This body type is often seen as "mature" or "motherly"; in many cases, female characters who are intended to be middle aged are drawn with voluptuous figures.

Tagging Notes/Criteria

Voluptuous Traits

A character with a voluptuous figure should have all or most of the following...

What is NOT Voluptuous
  • A character simply having big breasts and/or a big butt should NOT be tagged as voluptuous
  • A character with a small waist should rarely be tagged as voluptuous, they may fall under curvy figure alone or under hourglass figure
  • A character with small breasts should never be tagged as voluptuous
  • Slim, skinny, and obese characters should never be tagged as voluptuous
  • A character whose fat "overwhelms" their curves (e.g. fat rolls, belly overhang, their waist and hips blend together or their fat belly is larger than their breasts) should not be tagged as voluptuous, even if they have wide hips and big breasts, use curvy figure by itself
  • If a character has a narrower upper body/shoulders, (usually) small breasts with a wider waist, wide hips, and an overall curvy figure they may fall under pear-shaped figure instead, and should not be tagged under voluptuous.
  • If a character has a small waist and wide hips, and their figure resembles an hourglass (hips and chest are roughly equal in width), use hourglass figure instead
