coin belt

A decorative belt with coin sized flat metal disks, these disks may be layered in rows around the wearer's hips or hang off of a belt on strings. This garment is strongly associated with belly dancers - the coin belt causes jingling and rattling sounds as the dancer moves their hips during the performance; hanging "coins" can also add visual flourish, as the coins swing off the dancer's hips as they dance.
In some cases, the coin "belt" is sewn into a skirt, loincloth, or harem pants, rather than being a separate item of clothing.
Not to be confused with pendants, tassels or beads hanging off of a garment, the coins should distinctively be flat metallic disks around the wearer's waist/hips.
