I can't really buy the sudden switch from "queen of all I survey" to begging forgiveness just because he said the same thing he said like six times already.

Never noticed that Kindle has never raised his voice or gotten angry ever? There is an old saying "The calm before the storm." the saying is simple. Like Kindle here, she has never seen him angry, only annoyed or slightly irritated, otherwise he's been calm and reasonable.
So when he explode in pure anger, it causes an emotional feedback of fear. I have seen it first hand on how a calm person can scare a whole group, just cause he got angry.

I agree, I've been there and have been that person. Kindel wasn't even really mad when she saw him and his friend fucking. He just asked her politely to leave, which she did, and was annoyed for nearly twenty pages with his mother, but full blown I'm about to kill you mode? No. Honestly I feel that this is also more like his father and as we can deduce, she's afraid of Kindel's father. Hence why she goes through her children instead of just confronting him.
