Quick toggle to turn off the blacklist for a while, basically a checkbox somewhere on the index that you tick once and as long as the box remains ticked your blacklist is simply deactivated globally.

Why? Saves time, no need to click "show hidden" on every new page and also no need to cut out the contents in your blacklist and have to reinsert them later.

Would prefer it for each individual blacklist selection, so you can selectively unblock certain factors while keeping others blocked.

Sorry I'm going a little off topic here, but can we actually discuss how many megapixels as a guideline somewhere? There's no metatag implications, but I wouldn't mind manually maintaining if there was some sort of guideline

From the respective tags' wiki pages:

  • hi_res: width >= 1600px or height >= 1200px
  • absurd_res: width >= 3200px or height >= 2400px
  • low_res: width or height <= 500px

There's also the absurdly_absurd_res. It doesn't have a wiki entry, but it seems to be used in the same way as Danbooru's incredibly_absurdres: applicable if the image's dimension is in the 5-digit range. (>= 10000px)

Updated by anonymous

I think those definitions need to be reworked actually, probably by requiring a minimum height and (not or) a minimum width.

Otherwise stuff like this counts as absurd_res: post #441106

Now where did I see that image... Oh, here it is!
Even the thumbnail is basically just a line.

Edit: I've just realized that current rules would allow this image to be tagged both absurd_res (or absurdly_absurd_res) and low_res.

Updated by anonymous

That's exactly what I mean, will probably rewrite it to be based on diagonal pixel depth

Better use of this post.

Feature request: If someone doesn't post an artist tag, either don't allow the post to go through with an appropriate error message, or automatically tag it unknown_artist.

Updated by anonymous

Can y'all make mp4 a compatible upload? I wouldn't know how to, but converting mp4s to .swf and then compressing it down with some pretty terrible quality loss to get around the 50mb cap is irritating...
mp4 would be a smaller filesize and better quality that .swf.

Feature Request: New users can't make forum posts/threads during their first three days

I request this because we have all noticed that trolls/ban evaders relentlessly spamming the forums. Ban evaders cause trouble, and since they can't troll in the comments on posts and can't vandalize the tags due to their new accounts, where do they go to cause trouble? The forums, because there's nothing stopping them. With this tree day wait, it will discourage them from spamming just like the other waits.

I agree and before anyone dare say "what if they are having account trouble?" Dmail and email still work for banned users so that shouldn't even be a place to take it

One thing I never understood was why you guys don't limit the accounts to like say, 1 - 2 per IP, or area address. Might make it harder for 'em to make throw away accounts for the porpous of downvote spaming, ban evading. Ect.

Heres one, a copy button for the post ID#. Make it easier to do anything needing the #(#'s) format.

And another, space the up vote & down vote butttons for posts and comments. Ive been using my kindle a lot recently and I keep hitting upvote when I want to d vote and d vote when I want to up vote. Heck its happened a few times when I had a mouse on myblaptop too.. space it or maybe make them bigger so its easier to hit the right one.

Edit: or makenit so we can change our choise, incase we make a mistake.

As for the deactivate blacklist temporarily thing, how about taking it a step further and giving it a timer with a drop down menu. Then you could set it to like say half an hour, or something. And after 30 min it turns back on.

I'd rather keep it binary on/off in general. If you want an auto-on, make it a strict setting of a few minutes.

It's not uncommon for completely unrelated users to have the same IP addresses so it's not a 100% reliable thing

In secondary school all the computers were behind a proxy that made each machine's external IP address the same. Whenever I wanted to download something from a filesharing site that limited downloads for free users based on IP addresses, I basically couldn't do anything if someone else was also using the site. So yeah, IP based filtering is not a really good thing.

However I'd like a feature that simply displayed new users with the same IP addresses so we can manually pick through and find ban evaders without searching for them

Requested feature: List view posts option

Why it would be useful: By default we use grid view. An option to switch to list view would be helpful for people tagging.

You could click on the image and it would expand to its full size, you would also be able to add tags on the spot, clicking again would collapse the image to its default smaller size.

List view option would be for people that want to add tags quickly and effectively, and grid view (What we have now) would be for people who come here to browse galleries.

What I imagine list view to look like: http://i.imgur.com/zwcTWHq.png

So what do you think? Good idea/concept?

That is a really nice mockup! And I like the idea. It'd make adding tags en masse without automation much easier.

Requested feature: Favorites blacklisting/Disappearing favorites

Why it would be useful: For people that favorite a lot of posts, and want to keep getting new content, it gets sort of annoying when you find a good picture, but you've already favorited it. I realize it isn't a game to see who has the highest favorites count, but I like seeing as many new pictures as possible. As for where it's located, I think the option should be a simple on/off checkbox in your settings.

This may not exactly be useful for everyone, which is pretty much its one drawback to implementing it. Other than that, it's mostly for improved browsing.

It would be nice if favourited pictures were sorted to the back of searches, so you could both go to them immediately on a search, and be guarenteed to only see new content when you first search a topic.

But if it's going to look like this, the free space could be used for the favourite tags and maybe a save button.
So that if you tackle big projects , you'll be able to add tags on-the-fly.

When mass-editing, could you make it so that it only has effect when left-clicking? I usually use the center button to open them on a new tab so I can have a better look.

It might already be here in some way, shape, or form, but anybody that has used Facebook understands that they can tag someone's name in a post and then it will send a notification to that person letting them know that they have been tagged in it.

We should have a feature that allows you to tag a user (their username) and then it will send some sort of notification to them. You could tag them in comments, descriptions, etc. But limit the number of times they can tag someone, as that could get out of hand and a flood of spam could result.

I don't this would be too useful. We already have the page on your "My account" section that lets you see all the comments, blips, and forum posts that include your name. People that get summoned usually watch these sections to see when the next person needs their help on something.

I'd support this, so fucking much. I probably spend 100x the time right-clicking, locating "open in new tab" on the menu and clicking it than I actually do making edits.

That's just it... Select any option other than "View posts" from the Mode drop-down list under the search bar, and the middle mouse button (or Ctrl+LMB) will not open posts.

Tried everything (except for 'flag post'). Posts were not opened on new tabs, instead, the selected operation was performed. Using Comodo Dragon (Chromium based).

Nah it's fine. If you just come here to post on the forums and browse pictures, you don't go to the "My Account" section a lot. And even if you do, you know where you're going, so you don't have to look over all the links again to know where you're going.

You guys seriously need to upgrade the ffd page with a User lockout. Like privileged+ only and the others get a page where the rules for ffd are listed in bold large text. Or maybe at least lockout the new accounts... 98% of bad or stupid ffd are done by accounts that where made that day and probably just to flag something...usually for being offencive.

Edit: cuz ive speculated that the %age of records handed out are in favor of flagging abuse.

About two years ago I requested to have the FFD page use a dropdown menu with a lot of options, including flagging the post on grounds for being not furry or stupid. Then if they select that reason and click next, it directs them to another page that clearly spells out that the image will not be flagged now and the reason behind that

Then also have artists autodirected to a new takedown page if they select artist/owner removal

Then have duplicate/inferior and have it open up a field to insert the parent post ID and make sure it's parented

The idea was rejected though because "it really isn't that big of a problem" But now that I am an admin I see it as being a minor problem but a consistent one that could be fixed

I often look for pictures with specific species either being top or bottom. So say I'd like pictures with a lion bottoming, that would be much easier to locate on this great site :)

Suggestion for execution:
bottom:lion

You have to consider the opposition to an idea, otherwise the idea would not be realistic if you want people to see it how only you envision it. With that said, overly-specific tags are usually aliased to a more general tag like "left_black_nostril" can be simply aliased to "black_nose" or "pink_blue_orange_penis" to "multi_colored_penis". I honestly don't think that it can help the site but only yourself imo.

I meant to use the already existing system for species tags, and then add on to it. A meta-tag if you will, not begin to add over complicated tags, like you refer to.

Not when its a ban evader hell bent on harrassing you.
What I mean is a box that stops all below janitor level users from being able to contact you.

Edit/addition: Infact a check box that sets your profile to private with only the report button showing would be good too... harrassing can spread off site if the attacker can see the links to other user's pages and stuff. Maybe set it so only above member levels can do that. Course that'll mean I need a upgrade (add one for users over a certain time limit that admin trust enough or something? Like "Verified User" or "Trusted User" .... bastards starting to become a problem since I have stress related heart problems, in the hospital thanks to another ruptured weak spot in my left lung e.e)

While I may enjoy the dark twist that post #234486 took, I know there were others that didn't. I know for sure I didn't enjoy post #218794.

It could just be a small text box that pops up when you click the >> button. I think it would be useful.

Only problem I can see with a source-check is that some tumblr links possess multiple images. Therefore, if someone is uploading all of them the source would be identical, even though the images were not - unless they directly link the image instead of the post (which I'm not a fan of).
