Does this guy normally mix up his left and right? He often says right for left or left for right. Some of these might actually be that holding the opposite direction jumps you the way you want, but some of these don't make sense to do that, so I can't tell which direction I'd need to do without trying it for myself.

Eh, COD has had loot boxes since at least Advanced Warefare. Loot boxes really rub me the wrong way. Not only are you paying to get an item in a game, that there is a chance you payed full price for, but you are not even garunteed to get the item. The only thing worse than this is microtransactions in singleplayer games.

So COD just ruined video games forever hasn't it ?

Nope, need to do the opposite direction of where you want to go.

Video Games Made This Woman (Partially) Blind

there's so many variables to something like this...

it amazes me how some people can be this stupid. that it took you enough time to go half blind from playing a game to realize something was wrong just shows how stupid you are.

get off your ass and take an occasional break, you brain dead zombie! common sense does exist! people like you simply choose to ignore it in favor of playing games till you simply drop dead or something else bad happens to you like this.

seriously, you know you have some serious problems (both physical AND mental) if you can sit there playing a game till you start going blind.

anyone still remember those old news stories about people in internet cafes sitting around playing games till they dropped dead? so STUPID!

edit: NoScope Gaming Glasses

you know, for gamers dumb enough to play in the dark instead of a well lit environment... despite how common freaking sense would say playing in the light is better for you.

you know what, F it. if these idiots want to do this sort of stuff and just sit there playing till they drop dead, let them. let them! less idiots in the world who apparently need help staying alive.

I tried the internet cafe thing once. Paid for a 3-hour session, ended up spending two of those hours playing Jenga outside because I didn't want to sit there playing Warcraft 3 in a room full of people WAY better at it than I was.

Epic Games file Copyright lawsuit against Fortnite Cheaters

normally i'm pretty pro-cheater but that's typically just in single player games. in this case however, the extent to which these cheaters (hackers really) are going could be considered modding to some extent.

i would say this puts them a bit above the average cheaters/exploiters in the severity of the damage they're doing to both the game and its community and as such, they most definitely DO need to be stopped and punished.

these guys sound like they've made it their mission to just ruin this game in general and cause as much damage as possible in the process. imo, that makes them criminals more than mere cheaters.

edit: also, just how pathetic and utterly inept a gamer does one have to be to actually pay irl money for cheats in a game?

i'm sure we've all come across that "cheathappens" website at some point. just putting this out there: if you pay money to that website for ANY reason at all. don't EVER try to team up with me in a online multiplayer game or i'll kick you from the group on the spot if i find out about that shit.

I feel like cheating in single player games is perfectly fine, even though I don't ever cheat. But cheating in a multiplayer game, like any FPS, or a game with jump-in multiplayer like Dark Souls, is terrible as there is nothing really you gain from cheating online...

Banning singleplayer game modding really is unenforceable if it requires the base game to even use, doesn't include any of the base game, and what is included is original. And if it's just your own thing without distributing, all that's required is singleplayer and having a license to play it, which buying a copy gives.

I'm wondering though, what's the difference between citrAGB as a CIA file and an injected GBA rom? does it make running GBA games easier to run on old 3DS models and the regular 2DS? I have a N3DSXL so either way this doesn't affect me, although it is nice.

I remember when Rockstar attempted banning singleplayer mods, it ended very badly for them and now you can still mod GTA V singleplayer, but you have to make sure to uninstall the mods before going online.

TiTAN - Overdrive 2 (RGB 50fps) - SEGA Mega Drive - Revision 2017 (1st Place)

pretty impressive what can be done with genesis era software. makes me wonder what they could do for a PC game if they kept the graphics like that and the frame rate at a good speed.

and be sure to watch it at 720p50. looks like youtube limits the framerate below that for some reason.

edit: Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 REMIX... am i seriously reading this right?

on the little pouch gamefly shipped the game in:

This collection includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mixm and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded.

holy crap that's a lot of games! and these aren't any small games either. wow... lol what a collection i found. $31.49 is the "keep" price on gamefly for this and $5 off if i use that coupon. that is one hell of a good deal for all of these games in one collection as they would likely cost FAR more separately.

well, it really is all 6 games on one disc... looks like the installation will take a bit though (understandable) as it has to copy all the application data when you first load up a game. Re:Coded alone take 5-10 minutes for that and that one is 6.7GB+.

and it looks like it's all in great looking HD (if the 2 credits on the title select screen are any indication) too. :)

now that, this i would love to purchase. when i can as this collection is well worth the money.

iin Re:Coded: o_O wth...this isn't a game...this is a video covering the events of the game.

does this mean some of the other "games" included in this collection also aren't actual games but rather a series of cutscenes FROM those games? if so then...what games are on this disc?

"this game uses an auto-save feature" bullshit! i couldn't care less about that if it's not the actual game.

now...let's see what games are really on this disc. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories... 358/2 days is another cutscene collection (guess i can just skip through and see any extra/hidden endings right away.)...

ok, so it's actually a 4 game collection. Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Re:Chain of Memories (will be interesting to see how that card mechanics works outside of the 2d gba format), and Birth By Sleep which is actually the only one out of the 6 that i've never played before.

overall, still worth the money even if they left out those 2 games.

woah...started birth by sleep as ventus and they throw you up against a high tier villain like maleficent within the first 3 worlds in his part of the story. o_O and maleficent has NEVER been an easy opponent in any kingdom hearts game.

oh and birth by sleep is one of those unusual games where you have to play through each characters separate story before you can access the final main story.

oh and uh... looks like killing Ansem and Xemnas in the first 2 main games wasn't enough... now their true form, Xehanort, has returned. that is one tough villain. you kill both halves and then the original reforms and you have to go after him a 3rd time. :/

oh well, so far each world has been pretty short and if i need any training i can fly over to the arena which unlocks with the first 3 worlds this time. and you get to keep any exp/money/loot gained even if you lose there.

probably interlaced though since finishing all 3 opens the 4th and final story.

birth by sleep's passive ability and crafting system is a little...odd when compared to past KH games.

in this game you don't go around gathering materials to craft new weapons and/or items but rather...you buy/gather and train various physical and magic attacks then mix & match them via this "melding" system to create new, stronger attacks and the crystals you find are different in this game too. as seen here, you use crystals when melding which, with the right attack combination, adds a passive ability. once that's done you can then train this new attack to its max lvl and the attached passive becomes permanent just like what they did in FFIX.

there's also this finishing move system which...it's kinda complicated. like, if you just go around using the basic attack combo and fill the gauge up (the one above that list of special attacks/spells/items) it'll let you do a normal finish attack but if, at any point during the charge up process, you use a special attack or spell then the finisher changes to something different entirely. so far i've seen the basic one, then the fire, electrical, and i think wind or ice.

actually, no. my mistake on the finisher thing. what it really does is change your attack style when you charge that bar. it's what the attack style changes to and how many times you do it that unlocks new and different finishers. like i said, it's complicated.

then there's this D-Link thing which i think lets you temporarily use the abilities of other characters.

this ones a good bit more complex than past games. and that's putting aside the storyline setup.

oh and the passive ability thing. you don't actually have to have multiple of the same passive active to fully master them. for example, earlier i mastered an attack with the Dark Screen ability (increased resistance to darkness-based attacks). so now i've got a different attack set to train with that same ability. SO this 2nd one still stacks with what i already mastered even if it's just the 1 attack equipped.

Pretty much all of BBS is a lot more complicated to explain than it is to actually use and experience in the game.

Command melding generally follows a pattern based on the type of crystal used and the type of commands you're using to meld. You can also get some pretty uncommon (or even rare) moves/magic/shotlocks if you're willing to be patient and reset often to reroll the rng. Training deck commands takes like 5 seconds for most 3-level moves, and then you can combine them to make better stuff later. Command melding is pretty much just following a flowchart and using an item to get a special effect from the new product if you want. This system is one you can take advantage of even pretty early in the game, too. You can get some pretty nice stuff before even getting to Trinity Armor.

Command styles are also a lot of fun. Basically, if you used a special move (as in, from your command deck), the command gauge fills and your attacks will be modified with a "style" related to the move you used. There are also two tiers of command style, but they are unlocked and used the same way. Command styles also have their own command gauges that fill to use a special finisher.

Normal finishers (from not using deck commands other than healing) are still a thing you can use and they can be modified as you progress through the game and unlock new finishers. If anything, unlocking those new finishers is more complicated than the command style system since you have to use a tree system, but you can use any unlocked finisher you want once it's unlocked regardless of the position in the tree.

Try and play it on Critical, and you'll find you need to actually dodge like crazy, and can't use your combos against bosses. A quick spell here and there is all you can do at the start of the game.
Are you playing the Remix, or the original? In the original, Mirage Arena almost requires you to play with other players, but in Remix the multiplayer was removed, and so fights were toned down to match. Either way, get Group Heal. There are points where you actually do have allies in the story, and having that is helpful.

Every handheld Kingdom Hearts game is given a specifically different system.

For the Finisher system, you have to unlock the new ones, which requires doing special things, which can be use items, heal hp, collect Munny, do damage, use fire skills, etc.

D-Links give you a set of abilities which reference the character, which is set. The number increases as you level it up, and you also get a passive attached to that D-Link at L2 and a second at L3.

And, yeah, none of the passives have ever required stacking, that would be a silly thing to do. You have a limit on how many copies of it can be mastered, and if you have more than that, well, they won't stack on top of it, as you'll already have the max. However, if you have an open slot still, then the unmastered one temporarily uses that.

also, if you're planning on playing every KH game chronologically, I feel like you should just use the 1.5 collection on the PS3 or the collection on PS4 to watch Re:Coded since the gameplay is not that great for being a remake of a remake, or just a remake if you're playing this on DS, since the game was actually originally sold as an episodic game for phones. The story is just there to explain just what the message Sora, Riku, and Kairi got in the ending cinematic of KH2 said.

I also had the disadvantage of playing the game without an L button on the DS, making it much, much harder in some sections than it should have ever been, so I may sound a bit biased though...

dunno what this "trinity armor" thing is but i did manage to unlock a rare 2-slot command, Tornado, already. pretty good for large groups of enemies. just suck 'em up and move the whirlwind away to a good distance while everything caught in it take DoT. :)

Command styles are also a lot of fun. -_- i do not like this LV3 finisher, Surprise 1. it's a dumb QTE finisher. that said though...i have a choice of that or sticking with Air Flair (LV2) till new ones unlock and those that these 2 unlock take a lot of grinding and exp to unlock.

3.2k exp on this one finisher in a black slot and it's only about halfway unlocked. they also seem to unlock with the bottom most on the chart first the the next going up vertically so once this black slot unlocks the next will go quicker and so on.

ugh...i believe you on that critical difficulty point. that will be a rough playthrough (next time). and the version in this collection (for KH 1, 2, and BBS) is Final Mix. the only multiplayer i've noticed in the arena is the racing mode which i have yet to unlock.

currently, the last world i finished as ventus was radian garden so i still likely have a long ways to go in this game.

For the Finisher system, you have to unlock the new ones, which requires doing special things, which can be use items, heal hp, collect Munny, do damage, use fire skills, etc.

haven't seen any ike that yet. so far i've just had to hit an enemy for them to get any exp which is hard when some use QYEs like "Surprise 1". that QTE thing throws me off big time when i'm more or less button mashing basic attacks. (training some melding combos for passive abilities. >.>)

D-Links give you a set of abilities which reference the character, which is set. The number increases as you level it up, and you also get a passive attached to that D-Link at L2 and a second at L3.

cool, more passives.

makes sense. like with any game that let's you have passive abilities that stack, you need to limit how much they can stack or it breaks the balance and that's not much fun.

though i am curious about something. i won't be able to buy it until i'm at arena lvl 10 but what is that chaos crystal for in this game? some really powerful ability or something? there's also the giga magic and giga attack recipes for sale at the arena but those are obviously for high tier stuff.

much as i'd like to play re:coded on a console instead of emulating the NDS version, it's just a collection of cutscenes in the 1.5 + 2.5 remix collection. they did include the games secret ending though so now i know that re:coded comes before BBS. what wth mickey and yen sid talking of true keyblade masters and the "mark of the master" and whatnot. that was rather interesting to see.

and i have a question for you guys. what exactly does that "exp walk" ability do? i saw it on that melding chart i linked before and it leads me to think that i could get exp by simply running around though...if that is what it does then i assume it gives exp at a fairly slow rate over time which could be helpful if i just go and wander around for a while.

edit: well, it turns out that "exp walk" ability is pretty much a case of "it's what it says on the can" in that the name alone is self-explanatory.

and i decided to pause for a bit (probably gonna be an hour thanks to rags...) and check on youtube and saw this video. Hard Games Are Bad

now cuphead isn't getting attention for its art style and whatnot. now video game journalists seem to be going after it and other games because, get this, the games are "too hard".

to which i say: no, you simply SUCK at video games you inept excuse of a gaming journalist!

yep, this video should be fun. >.>

edit2: well, like the trophy in the archives says. that's one down... and vanitas was a fairly tough final boss fight too. especially his 2nd part which wound up being a brawl with me occasionally backing off to heal.

this theatre section of the trinity archives has me wondering.... why are there 4 sections marked with ?'s when there's just 3 characters... is there more to this game than just these 3 characters? guess i'll find out when i beat the other 2 story lines.

woah...that's different. not only does this game require 3 playthroughs to reach the main plot but also 3 separate "complete" save files? well, i wasn't expecting that.

o_O i didn't think this game was that complex.

dunno what this "trinity armor" thing is but i did manage to unlock a rare 2-slot command, Tornado, already. pretty good for large groups of enemies. just suck 'em up and move the whirlwind away to a good distance while everything caught in it take DoT. :)

yeah, plus some styles can add an elemental effect to your attacks. fire/ice/lightning being obvious ones.

-_- i do not like this LV3 finisher, Surprise 1. it's a dumb QTE finisher. that said though...i have a choice of that or sticking with Air Flair (LV2) till new ones unlock and those that these 2 unlock take a lot of grinding and exp to unlock.

3.2k exp on this one finisher in a black slot and it's only about halfway unlocked. they also seem to unlock with the bottom most on the chart first the the next going up vertically so once this black slot unlocks the next will go quicker and so on.

furrin gok

figures...that can be a little annoying sometimes since it basically means replaying the game multiple times for the real ending.

ugh...i believe you on that critical difficulty point. that will be a rough playthrough (next time). and the version in this collection (for KH 1, 2, and BBS) is Final Mix. the only multiplayer i've noticed in the arena is the racing mode which i have yet to unlock.

currently, the last world i finished as ventus was radian garden so i still likely have a long ways to go in this game.

haven't seen any ike that yet. so far i've just had to hit an enemy for them to get any exp which is hard when some use QYEs like "Surprise 1". that QTE thing throws me off big time when i'm more or less button mashing basic attacks. (training some melding combos for passive abilities. >.>)

cool, more passives.

makes sense. like with any game that let's you have passive abilities that stack, you need to limit how much they can stack or it breaks the balance and that's not much fun.

though i am curious about something. i won't be able to buy it until i'm at arena lvl 10 but what is that chaos crystal for in this game? some really powerful ability or something? there's also the giga magic and giga attack recipes for sale at the arena but those are obviously for high tier stuff.

much as i'd like to play re:coded on a console instead of emulating the NDS version, it's just a collection of cutscenes in the 1.5 + 2.5 remix collection. they did include the games secret ending though so now i know that re:coded comes before BBS. what wth mickey and yen sid talking of true keyblade masters and the "mark of the master" and whatnot. that was rather interesting to see.

and i have a question for you guys. what exactly does that "exp walk" ability do? i saw it on that melding chart i linked before and it leads me to think that i could get exp by simply running around though...if that is what it does then i assume it gives exp at a fairly slow rate over time which could be helpful if i just go and wander around for a while.

edit: well, it turns out that "exp walk" ability is pretty much a case of "it's what it says on the can" in that the name alone is self-explanatory.

and i decided to pause for a bit (probably gonna be an hour thanks to rags...) and check on youtube and saw this video.

Re:Coded actually takes place a bit after KH2, more following what the Disney characters are doing during the same time as Sora, Riku, and Kairi are reading that message on Destiny Islands. The true ending you mention also is what directly leads into one of the first cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance for the 3DS or PS4 depending on which version you want to play. Playing the 3DS version, I kind of would recommend the PS4 version since late game Dream Drop Distance sort of has serious framerate issues since it was made with the original 3DS in mind, and this was before Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate or Smash 3DS came with a special mode for 3DS that consumed extra RAM, but ran much smoother than if they weren't running without this mode.

If you're playing through BBS on the PS4, or emulating the Final Mix version, there is a fourth story that follows Aqua again, to go see what happened to the other two after the end of their story, I think. Otherwise there's just the three playthroughs you mentioned.

Someone should trap them in a room with Mega Man, Ghosts and Goblins, Battletoads and Contra. Give 'em a taste of the good ol' days.

now now, no need to traumatize them... lol or is there?

though you better make sure it's the first game of the classic mega man series as i've found the franchise to be increasingly difficult when playing in reverse chronological order. that way the game would be at maximum difficulty. >:)

OR if you wanna be really cruel... sit them down in front of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean machine...and have them stay locked in the room until they beat the final level. and Dr. Robotnik plays extremely well and SLAMS down beans so fast and hard the screen shakes! i'm sure you've seen the cameo boss fight in sonic mania...just imagine that but at lightning speed.

Yes. This is the swift kick in the arse these soft cocks deserve and they need to bend over and take it until they become hard cunts like us.

That's why I linked the first one.

Or Kirby's Avalanche on the SNES. They're pretty much the same game.

Nope, haven't played it yet.

just saw a commercial for mario & luigi superstar saga + bowser's minions...

and they said it was a new adventure...

are you sure it's a "new adventure ", nintendo? because that sounds and looks like a rerelease improved graphics (0:00 - 1:00) with a side story attached to it.

a romhack basically. :/ well, i guess they've gotta get money somehow.

So Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga has been given the Four Swords treatment. Not really new, but at least it's not a straight port and it's not like you can just go out and buy the GBA version from your local shop.

oh, that thing. i fought one version of that during ventus' route. not too tough and after said route i am genuinely curious as to why the combat lvl for each world is so low. i played at standard difficulty and i think even the keyblade graveyard was only lvl 8 or so while i was running around mowing down unversed like it was going out of style as a lvl 21+.

o_O doing standard again as terra but he might have things a little tougher as his attack style seems slower and more clunky.

which is why we have methods of preserving and sharing old video games on the internet...that the big companies hate us for doing...and now try to profit from themselves while attempting futile attempts at punishing us for trying to preserve said games in the first place. nice cycle we've got going on these days, huh?

edit: Studio Killer EA Shuts Down Visceral Games

well, that's EA for you. if anything is predictable, it's that this will eventually happen to any studio EA touches.

outside of the new Bowsers Minions mode, only a few blocks have been changed, and you can't make Luigi the leading brother, for some unknown reason. Yeah, I guess I'll just find my way to play the original on my 3DS, or just buy the game on the Wii U.

I really wish they would make Four Swords DSi available on the 3DS permanently. I know that the game is still on the Nintendo Servers due to my N3DSXL having CFW, but it's actually hidden to people who never owned the game back in 2012 when the 3DS first launched...

Yes, Terra is slower, but hits much harder. His critical mode (Which you'll want, it makes unlocks much easier) is super hard against the first boss, you'll want to grab some spells for it. As you get later into the game spells become more abundant and you can also grind up materials for more passives.

Definitely play on Proud or Critical modes. Critical lets you cast more spells (Hence being needed for Terra) but is otherwise harder than Proud.

wow, that's an interesting mod. i assume it doesn't affect your lives when the sonic clones die?

nevermind, i see now that the clones have the usual partner immortality.

edit: EA closes down Visceral Games citing market pressures

some more (not many) details on the visceral games thing and

Alex Mauer: Motion to strike denied

this doesn't surprise me at all. heck, there's not much that does when it comes to the legal system. i'm sure we've all seen how long the legal system can drag things out for months and months on tv and in the news sometimes.

so it looks like this alex mauer mess is gonna last even longer than it already has.

lots of gaming news this morning it seems.

i was actually talking about when it comes to news. we seem to keep posting a lot of the same things from different sources. though...i suppose that's not a bad thing...just annoying to see sometimes.

anywho...on to something interesting: "Mickey Mania's "Impossible 3D Chase - How Was It Done?

iirc some of the best graphics i remember seeing on the genesis was that CG ship model that would be spinning in place at the end of subterrania. real shiny, high quality render, that one.

huh, I should've expected that, since AMD brand PC parts aren't quite as popular as Intel parts are in Japan compared to the rest of the world. I wonder if they keep improvements to the webkit in the Switch when the only current use for it is the occasional wifi that requires accepting some sort of generic EULA agreement that's present in just about any public location, like a restaurant.

Activision patents Microtransaction Manipulation System

much like that visceral games video, it looks like sid's got more info to share once he sorts it all out later.

and in other news... huzzah! 4th time's the charm for DS2: Scholar of the first sin. i think it must've been a case of the lens for whatever the ps4 uses to read discs being dirty earlier this year when i first tried to get this game working.

went looking for more interesting demos like those titan overdrive ones i lined before and found this.

[SNES] Chiptune Rocker (direct feed)

have any of you ever seen a rhythm based combat system for SNES? no? well you have now!

o_O pretty interesting to see what these demoscene people can make using old video game consoles.

psx: Playstation Demoscene: Haujobb - Strange Worlds

this demo looks pretty interesting but the psx had shitty graphics. there's just no getting around it. heavily pixelated polygons, texture popping... psx was ugly. but...it did have some decent games in its library and the FMV cutscenes in a good number of the games looked great. (the king's field games are particularly impressive on that point imo. especially since those were among the very first games for the console.)

ps2: 4 Edges by The Black Lotus [PS2 Demo]

eh, it's...different, i'll give it that much. comparing this to the psx demo though... sony made some pretty massive improvements on the 3d model rendering among other things cause this is vastly superior to the psx.

that demoscene stuff is rather interesting. they manage to do some amazing stuff with those old consoles and stuff.
