I dunno' whether it's a bug or not, but one thing I particularly dislike about the new version, is how you now have to click each forum topic that has new posts, individually, in order to get the link at the top of the screen de-italicized. It was so much more convenient to just be able to click the most-recently updated thread, and have the rest think you've seen them, too...

I've got a permanent header popup notification that's just a single period and an inoperable close button.
I also can't see post #1000200 without going to the direct image URL.

I had the first issue until I disabled my userscripts.

Don't know if it's a bug, but I don't see it listed in the intentional changes. A user's "level" isn't shown on posts anymore (e.g. previously Millcore would be shown with an Admin label, Mairo would have a Janitor label, etc). Now it just shows the user name without any label, and the only way to see it is by going to the user's profile.

Also, when I click on Reply in a given forum post, it scrolls up to the top of the page with no reply box visible. I have to click on the Reply>> at the bottom of the page to get the reply box open, and it will have the desired post quoted already.

Not sure if bug. When tagging fox_humanoid, it doesn't autofill the other species associated when submitting.

Fox_humanoid should imply humanoid and canine_humanoid.

The favourites page doesn't order them when they were favourited making it harder to find posts dependant on when they were favourited, don't know if this is a bug or a design choice, but it would be nice if the option was made available to order them like they used to be. Also the popular by day page is no longer there, again, don't know if this is a bug or design choice, but again, would be nice if that was available as an option.

With the "change size mode" button now at the bottom of the image, if a user with "original" as the default opens a really large image, they'll have to do a lot more scrolling to fit said image to their screen.

Also on a more personal note, as someone with original size as my default, I don't feel any need to view or load the "sample" size, and the toggle now requires extra clicks if I do wish to fit a given image to my window. This is only made worse by the fact that the button changes its position on the page when the image is resized

Updated

Also, in Firefox, previously Firefox itself would remember my past searches and help me autofill them, this no longer appears to be the case

I just noticed that all of the favorites from this image except mine are missing.

Not only this. A lot of popular posts look like they lost favorites.
Btw. Is the option to view who favorited the post removed?

If I'm not mistaken, that's actually the browser's autofill not recognizing the text box.

Btw. Yes, this is no longer visible to general users. You'll also no longer see who uploaded the image.

The faves are still there, you can search them with fav:X id:Y, it's just that the counts needs updating.

Search queries with "or" return images without ored tags. I.e. query "male ~male/male ~solo" gives images without "male/male" or "solo" tags.

Site used to not allow twitter images, now it does, it just doesn't show the preview (@upload page)

Also, when editing already uploaded post pressing enter makes a newline in texbox instead of applying changes (might not be a bug, but having to scroll down and clock the button is horrible).

Updated

I'm a bit disappointed. Looks like the site no longer works on Pale Moon (images are not showing and no content is displayed on the "Posts" page). Don't know what the odds are of things getting transpiled/polyfilled to support old and strange browsers.

Hi!

Leaving a note here: pressing Enter in the tag editing text area no longer submits changes. This was a handy efficiency feature. Please consider restoring it.

Thank you.

Sorry, am bit new here to having an account after reading the international changes thought of making an account... Anyways, after the update, any flash posts like https://e621.net/posts/2085371?q=flash would previously work on Safari MacOS for me and now it won't seem to load and remain a blank screen. I don't know if it is just limited to myself or other MacOS users.

I think this is a bad change, because sometimes it is important to know who the uploader is.
For example, whether it is an artist who posted his own art or someone else who uploaded paysite content and it should be flagged.
The other example is the conditional DNP in which only the artist can upload art.

I agree to this statement. It shouldn't have been removed.

Yeah the favorites thing is frustrating. Also meta tags like order: don’t work for that.

When you use the tag "Animated" works fine, but the WEBM and the ANIMATED little tags on the thumbnails have dissapeared. Meaning. You dont know when you will open a video,or a gif.

1. Favorite count for some images didn't transfer, some images have like 300 upvotes and 2 favorites
2. Favorite order is messed up

You can still find the uploader by looking at the first entry in a post's tag history. It just doesn't display on the post's page anymore.

1. Viewing tag preview when editing a post makes the tag textbox disappear. It does not come back after closing the tag preview. Only reloading the page brings it back.
2. API docs (or what is left of them) have broken formatting.

Browsers are removing support for flash, so it could just be your browser rather than E6.

If it's that, and not E6, to view it you'd need to click the "download" button and save it, and use the "Flash Player Projector" to view it:
https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html

There's downloads for Windows, Linux and Mac.

This was happening to me on the old site: https://e621.net/forum_topics/22473

It seems each category of tags is on separate lines, which I guess means its somewhat expected. I don't know how I feel about this though; it makes sense and makes it easier to look and see if a particular tag is already there if you know its category, but it looks confusing as if I'm supposed to add tags to specific lines when it doesn't actually matter. The loss of being able to simply press enter to submit changes, and the excessive wasted space creating the need to scroll down to click save, is just compounding the problem.

Posts are showing up fine for me on Pale Moon.

We can set artists with a DNP for them the be the only allowed uploaders to have their art be automatically approved. The argument is valid for quickly being able to see if the post was the commissioner. The information for who uploaded is still visible in tag history, though admittedly that's still extra work to get to if you want to check many posts to help with flagging.

Visiting a post that is in my favourites, added previously to today's changes, on the image page itself I still have the "+Fav" option, but it only brings an error message.

Also the "My Favourites" page is no longer ordered by when they were added to the list of favs, as somebody said before, not sure if this is a big or a... Questionable design choice.

Edit: relating to the first issue I have listed, this also means that users are currently unable to UNfavourite posts that have been Fav's before the update

I wonder if it would take less CPU load if it was just hard coded into the first line of uploader comments.

1. When you click 'Reply' under someone's comment, the page scrolls to the top. The programmer probably forgot to use preventDefault() function.
2. DText help page is completely broken.

Blacklisted results are not being condensed into individual pages anymore. See this image (search is rating:safe score:>10):

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/580031920092610572/685271044696834099/unknown.png

This is supposed to put all the images that match the criteria into as few pages as possible. Here, there's three images on the first page, two images on the second page, three images on the third page -- before the changes, if I did this search, it would just show as many results as could fit on the first page.

It looks like blacklisted images are taking up space on the page and just aren't shown. If I exclude blacklisted results by searching for (rating:safe score:>10 -female)

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/580031920092610572/685271649108754454/unknown.png

The list is slightly more condensed because it isn't listing the invisible posts tagged as 'female'... it seems that I would need to put my entire blacklist of tags in every search if I wanted the old way that it worked. Is there a fix or different way to do searches now?

I accidentally added one of my uploads to my favorites, and when I unfaved it, that upload, which had 16 favorites at the time, now has 0 favorites.

I'm getting the same exact problem on a 3DS browser. No images, no posts. Even avatars are hidden completely.

I tried clicking the new-looking "Visually similar" button on post 2022889 and got an error (Log ID: 10a5c729-2bf4-486d-8fec-c09ff4c7cadf). Got another error on a second image I tried. I'm assuming this feature just isn't up yet.

Pools are not a thing that seem to exist anymore.
Attempting to add an image into a pool yielded no results as I was unable to search for a pool or use the "see full list" option at all.

This causes a HUGE issue for comics, especially older, pre-pooled ones from even years back.
Especially ones that are not numbered or openly obvious in the order they go in.

I can't seem to favorite any images, every time i try to i get "Error: An unexpected error occurred."

On mobile, at least for me, the 18 or older pop-up shows up for every single page I go to. Even though I say yes every time. Not an issue on pc. Doesn't matter if its the fourms, images, or home page.

There's a bug with the fav button at the moment, it doesn't say if you've already faved a post, then if you click to fave a post you've already favourited, then it errors.

There's also an 80k limit on favourites now, and checking your profile it looks like you have over 80k.

-Favorites are no longer listed in the order favorited, but by date posted.
-No pagination at bottom of favorites page, only prev / next buttons.

News dismiss settings are saved per page instead of being site wide and after being dismissed they come back after a few minutes.

Apparently i can't upload .webm or .mp4. The only way to upload animations is by uploading .gif

Quick fix: Go to the bottom of the page and press "enable mobile mode support"

Worked for me

(I'm not an admin, but i found a solution)

(also,@admin_team , please add a legacy mode until this version is stable)

Thanks for the response much appreciated!
However, I decided to re-download Flash Player just to make sure that you are correct and I didn't have it installed but it didn't solve the issue.
Thanks to bring my attention to adobe flash player being removed, I didn't realise that until now... I'll try installing Chrome but it isn't nice to think I am limited to the option of browsers to use since I am mainly an Apple product consumer.

Edit: I downloaded Google Chrome browser on to my Mac and it worked... Which is phenomenal, but it does beg the question if that Safari isn't a suitable browser for E621... Nevermind, It is resolved now
Thanks pup for the response!

Updated

Not the biggest fan of this update. Personal favorited posts are no longer arranged by favorite order, I’ve noticed many post with no favorites but many upvotes, you can no longer see who favorited a post or who uploaded it, pools don’t work, reply button doesn’t work. I’m sure I’ll find more bugs or things I don’t like. Hopefully the things that aren’t bugs can be redone. I’m pretty sure the favorite order of personal posts is intentional, don’t like it.

volvagia said:

The error message's wording is ambiguous, but it's the new 80k favorite limit. Source: I get the same error message

Minor things that I haven't seen mentioned:

Clicking Download inder the image opens a new tab instead of going to the link within the tab. The download link under the tags opens in same tab.

There is no First/Last Page arrow at the bottom of search.

Updated

I think the current default blacklist is a reasonable first iteration, but a few choices strike me as odd:

  • Gore is blacklisted, but snuff is allowed.
  • Rape is allowed.

A lot of stuff won't load until the third or fourth refresh (Such as this text input box here)
No matter what I search, the first page is just blank and NEVER refreshes.
When stuff does load, it seems slow.
Also, can't log in with my old account (Which I never used anyway, so no big deal)

Edit: Running on Google Chrome, Windows 10, on a computer that can handle anything with 400 mb/s internet.

https://e621.net/posts?tags=andromorph+order%3Achange

It should show all tags with andromorphs, ordered by score and change

Browser: Chrome 80

Can confirm, the first page for most uncommon tags seems to appear blank:

I was assuming at first it might just do that if no posts with content for that tag is coming up on the first page, but I'm not sure. toxtricity shows up on the search page, and searching for it once brought up an empty page, but searching for it a second time a minute later gave the expected results.

It could be a caching thing.

Edit: Just a few minutes after I posted that, results started to show up on the first page, so that very well might be it.

-Changing the "disable cropped thumbnails" setting to "yes" causes no images to be displayed on mobile, and causes the hamburger button to become non-functional, preventing the revert of this setting change unless accessed on the desktop version of the site.
