Don't know if this is a bug or I'm missing something, but on the Upload page under the "Other Tags" section.

There's a suggestion bar with links to "Related" tags that will open up a suggestion box of tags for you, such as general tags, artists, characters, etc.
If you accidentally click on it, you cannot close the suggestion box, leading to a giant text blob in the middle of the page.
Clicking on the link again will just refresh the suggestion box.

Also, there's a missing | divider in between Copyrights and Characters.

URLs for sources are automatically converted from http to https and cannot be switched back. This makes the source url unreachable for some posts. Specifically post #1463994 and post #1461301 will not function if the protocol is https, only http.

Doesn't work for me either.
Im still seeing art that features tags that are in my blacklist. Hell, I even git flagged for "refusing to use my blacklist" when I vented my frustrations about seeing a certain tag, even though i had that tag blacklisted. Yeah. It's all kinds of janky

Blacklist issue: I have judy_hopps blacklisted and for some reason, https://e621.net/posts/2409931 shows through whereas https://e621.net/posts/2409930 does not. Clicking on the visible post does say it contains a blacklisted tag, but enabling and disabling it does nothing.

The post doesn't have judy_hopps tagged on it because it seem to be a fan character in the same style? IDK. Blacklist can't blacklist what isn't applied to the post.

what's the current verdict on non-ascii tag names?

i'm not sure how a tag like this could be acceptable; difficult to search, difficult to assign on posts

Pretty sure that should just be "pufferfish_meme". If there is ever another pufferfish meme in the future, add the year that the meme was created. EX: "pufferfish_meme_20XX"

Is there now a limit on the number of "Related: Tags" results that are fetched while we create/edit a post? I've never noticed them being truncated in any way, but on my latest post the site only seems to fetch related tags up to the current post's tags starting with F

For about week i was not able to pass HCaptcha. After i solve captcha it check browser and return back to captcha. I've tried different browsers and even different laptop with same result. I has to use tor to access e621 as it filtered by my service provider. Restarting tor to change gateway also did not solve the problem. Please help!

This is from the Cloudflare side of things, not e6.

can you recommend a free VPN to use?
Can E621 make sort of knocking door so the address white listed after knocking that resource? or VPN...

e621 for some reason, began to work only on the main tab. Pages are not loaded when opened in other tabs. Two days ago, everything opened and worked fine. Tor browser, android.

actually the E6 is banned in the whole Russia just because some ugly hentai hater hit official strike as "child abuse" to a few hentai pictures on E6 which was public accessible without registration and any age warning :(

The strike posts was 166302 462958 459910 32345 246092 484112 484135 484138 484314 and so on 465 total. I have the full list if that help to resolve country wide ban for e621

At least E6 can change the ID for that posts and return 404 for the original links or even better is to require user registration for some TAGs or for some countries

E6 can't really change post IDs outside of deleting and re-uploading those images.
But you might notice that with the introduction of the anonymous blacklist, all of those images now require the user to be logged in to see them.

I have an issue where no images are showing up. the rest of the site loads correctly except for the images not showing up. In the thumbnail picture all I see are tag listings and when I click the image the picture won't load. I have even went to the sister site e926 and the images will load there. Its just e621 where the images won't load. Does anyone have a solution? The site has worked for a few years now except for yesterday when this occurred. I also stopped chrome from auto updating a few weeks ago by blocking the service because I want to keep flash. I think the error says error connection timed out.

Updated

I think this went under the radar since the launch of e621 NG. Upon adding a translation, marking the "Check translation" checkbox tags check_translation instead of translation_check. See https://e621.net/forum_topics/26145 (last active 5 months ago). Of course, this could be resolved without any code changes, if we just accept check_translation as now being the correct tag. Either way, the tags will need to be aliased together.

Check_translation is now going to be the valid tag, it seems. So nothing needs to be done now (other than reject https://e621.net/forum_topics/19568 and approve https://e621.net/forum_topics/27714).

Oh I get it, the blacklist dropdown was reacting to the child post (without actually showing the "blacklisted" thumbnail so I didn't even notice there being one), I misread that as the post being tagged itself. That's one thing to look out for then.

I wanted to see if https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/677658 already had an artist tag.
So I went to https://e621.net/artists and put the URL in the URL search field.
The search returned 10 artists, none of whom had the URL I searched for.

there definitely seems to be something strange going on with the url option,

if i put some garbage after the /en/ segment, like this
it seems to yield the first ten artist who have any pixiv url associated

however if i omit that first segment, like this
it yields nothing

When clicking a post at the top a green banner appears saying “updating posts (1 pending)” then quickly changes to a red banner that simply says error. This only seems to happen once I log in and also only on mobile Firefox. I have no issues when using mobile safari. Any help would be great as I prefer to use Firefox.

You changed the post mode in the menu to something other than view. There is a dropdown list under the search box below the posts on mobile that lets you change it, or if there is a sidebar, it's on the left just below the search.

-Clicking on a thumbnail of a post on your mobile device seems to toggle removing the image from your favorites instead of directing you towards the post itself.

I suspect that you might be in "remove from favorites" mode, instead of "view".
Scroll down past all the posts until you see a "Mode" section. It's right above the blacklist, and the tags.
Using a dropdown in that section, switch back to the "view" mode.

I assure you, the blacklist works perfectly well in Firefox.

Besides what darryus said about the formatting, check that the filters in the sidebar are active. If they are crossed out ( like this ), click on "Re-enable all" to turn it those back on.

When editing an existing Bulk Update Request, there's a button that says "Preview". Clicking it changes the button to "Edit" and does absolutely nothing else (as far as I can tell).

Edit: I assume it's the "Preview" button that accompanies the "Reason" box when making a new BUR.

There is another issue with the "comments on the user's posts" page like this one.

In addition to not paginating properly (which has been discussed before), it does not display comments on deleted posts.
Not a massive problem, just somewhat annoying.

I don't know if anybody else is having this problem, but whenever I try to search up anything with order:comments, it doesn't work, since it just shows the latest posts in general. What's going on?

order:comments and order:desclength don't work, for some reason they're not actually in the source code for the site not sure if they ever did function.

That's not true. order:comment_count is the proper way to sort by the number of comments. The wiki is just out of date.

No idea what happened to desclength, though.

I guess I'm blind, I guess it's because it's all the way up at the top of the file, but also I didn't see order:comment_count show up in the auto-complete for some reason, even though it's definitely there now.

Don't worry about it, happens to the best of us.

It's actually more complicated than that. order:comment still exists, and it does... something. Not sure what, though.
It seems to function similarly to order:comment_bumped, ordering the posts with the newest comments, but there are some differences.

Honestly, no idea what's going on there.

if I had to guess the difference between the two would be whether is that order:comment_bumped might ignore comments made with the "No bump" box checked or something.

When editing tags on a post, autocompleting a tag not at the end of the input removes the trailing space at the end of the input. Quick/recent tags does not check if there is a trailing space before adding the tag. This has more than once led to a mistag, like most recently trans_woman_(lore)duo. At least the tag created popup helps if it's the first time that mistag has happened, but that's no guarantee.

Both of those should be fixed, or at least quick/recent tags, since it can also cause problems if you manually enter a tag and forget to add a space before quicktagging.

Not sure if goes here or if should be a thread... if a thread is needed, someone else can just copy paste this where it belongs.

[Bug] date:Day is an 'invalid' search and returns nothing

Bug overview description.
Search for date:Day (as opposed to date:day) returns nothing. Used alone, it simply takes one to https://e621.net/posts. If used in conjunction with other search queries (i.e. dragon date:Day) it simply returns the other queries and ignores date:Day

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?
Search bar, no matter what page the search bar is on

What is the expected behavior?
"date:Day" should have the same effect as "date:day", in that it shows all posts submitted in the previous 24 hours. Capitalizing one letter shouldn't break the functionality of the query

What actual behavior is given instead?
Search treats it as an empty argument and returns nothing.

Time of incident (if applicable).
Several times a week I mistype date:Day instead of date:day

Can you reproduce the bug every time?
Yes

What steps did you take to replicate this bug?
Just tried it. Still happens.

Errors or other messages returned (if any).
No error messages returned.

Same issue as Quatra above. Same solution too.

Using a dropdown in that section, switch back to the "view" mode.

I have a bulk downloader script -- which I'm hoping is kosher -- and I'm suddenly seeing a lot of connection time-outs (both handshake timeouts and read timeouts). At a guess, maybe one out of every four or five requests to https://e621.net/posts.json takes more than 20s (a timeout I picked; it was hanging indefinitely). I haven't changed anything on my end. I don't see anything on my API Access page telling me I've done something wrong and been rate-limited -- although maybe it wouldn't? I also don't see anything in my messages.

The UA string I used is "horriblescripts/0.1 (puffleyiffler)"

Just accessing the site through the browser, nothing seems to be unusual.

This seems like a connection problem between you and cloudflare. All explicit blocks will return the contents of https://e621.net/test403 although with their original URL. Rate limiting has a 503 response code, and looks like https://e621.net/test503

I send out dmails/emails/whatever to users that provide contact information in their user agents if there are problems with their scripts, and how I think it can be best resolved. I believe it is better to contact users that want to play by the rules than to punish them without notification, both because it's better at getting issues resolved, but also because it just ends up being a better dialog anyways, since things can get fixed instead of being a blind fight over access.

Maybe someone has mentioned it, but color formatting no longer works in image descriptions or tag history fields.

It would be lovely if this bug was fixed as well. Expanding the size of the regular tag box causes the suggested tag box to get frozen in one area of the screen until you click on something that refreshes the GUI.

The Similar Images Search has stopped working. It always gives no results.

It looks like iqdb ate itself again. I am looking into what I can do and if I can salvage the database or if I have to run an import on it again.

Edit: It has written garbage to the database file, so the image search is currently down until I can get it resolved. It will likely be some time tomorrow before I have a chance to set it back up and start importing things.

Edit 2: Import is once again running, it's running, slowly. I will invest some time into refactoring iqdb, since it seems like a pile of unreliable garbage for this task, and the alternative was okay for duplicates, but didn't work out well for finding similar.

Edit 3: There are still 1.3 million posts in the import queue for the image search. Unlike last time, it seems that images are successfully sticking in the database file, instead of getting lost. This is encouraging.

The blacklist still works in Mozilla Firefox. Check that the blacklist formatting is correct, and that none of the filters are turned off in the sidebar.

... I have repeated that so often that I feel like a broken record at this point.

Is this a bug?

Running a search with an asterisk will search every tag that has something where you put said asterisk. A silly example would be typing ‘*_stuff’ and the results are posts that have things like ‘big_stuff,’ ‘lots_of_stuff,’ etc.

But when running a search with multiple tildes (~), it won’t count any that you put an asterisk on. So if you searched ‘~things ~doodads ~*_stuff,’ it only searches for things and doodads.

Is it possible to make tildes and asterisks work for searches like this? I’d use it~

this isn't really a bug as much as it is just a general annoyance.

autocomplete is constantly bloated with tags that are completely unrelated what you're actually typing; can we maybe change the aliases of the feral_*, anthro_*, solo_*, etc. from whatever the * part of the tag is to the first part of the tag (feral, anthro, solo, etc.). as is it kinda ruins the flow of tagging and it turns a feature that would otherwise be always helpful all the time into something you're often fighting with.

+1. It always annoys me, when I want to add for example anthro_on_feral, feral_on_feral, anthro_penetrating but when I start typing, I'm getting a bunch of useless aliases and I basically need to type half of the tag to get the right suggestion.

Is asterisks not working with tildes on purpose then? I noticed it works with minuses. Like if you search '~romantic_couple ~romantic_ambiance -*_couple', it knows to prevent the 'couple' and only let the 'ambiance' results through.

I like to load up a search to the max 40 limit with '~tags' and bookmark it for daily updates, but it would be awesome if you could get even more use out of it by having '~*_tags' and '~tags_*' in it as well for the furthest possible reach. You could save a lot of room for more tags to add until you fully hit the 40 limit. More bang for my greedy buck, haha :]

Cbee's user account says he has 7 total posts and 7 deleted posts, but if you click to see the former, there are actually 14. If you search for his username, he's listed as having 21 total posts and 7 deleted ones.

seems like an math error, like it's subtracting the seven deleted posts from the total posts twice.

What's weird is that this issue does not seem to affect everyone.
My profile shows 1329 uploads, which seems correct: 1341 - 12 = 1329

I also checked a couple of high-frequency uploaders.
Millcore 's count is correct: 67361 - 3649 = 63712
Cat-in-Flight 's deleted posts are counted twice: 97392 - 11905 = 85487, not the reported 74973

There might be some other factor playing a role in this.

The way the math works changed with the site transition. Some users have run the fix counts tool, others have not. I haven't forced it as a background task, so it's pretty random.

wildcards already contribute towards the ~ section, that's what wildcards do. They look up the tags with the most posts that match the pattern and insert them as ~ tags into the search.

NOW it makes sense, haha. So it wasn't doing anything because combining a tilde and an asterisk is redundant. That's great though, all I gotta do is take the tildes off those asterisk tags and it works how I was trying to get it to. Thanks for clearing that up :]

I'm not sure what causes this, but on the profile page there's an error when trying to nest several sections within another section.

Example:

Sections that are set up to look like this...
Example Section 1
Nested Section 1
Nested Section 2
Nested Section 3
Instead display looking like this...
Example Section 2
Nested Section 1
Nested Section 2
Nested Section 3
[/section]

The 'About:' area on the profile page also displays text weirdly, were part of a word is cut off midway and continued on the next line. This is how the first line on my 'About:' is displayed due to this:

Hi! I'm pretty shy, but I'm also friendly and always down to talk with people. I really like Pokemon and My Little Pony, and I e
njoy playing video games and doing some creative writing, among other interests and hobbies.

Resizing the browser window will also alter where a word or sentence will break at, but words always seem to cut off by the right edge of the border if the word is too long.

I think this has to do with sections closing after a specific number of newlines, I think it's three. I'm afraid of messing with the dtext parser, it's scary and fickle.

Reverse image search is still importing. It slows down dramatically as more posts are added and is now taking almost half a second per post to add new items. ~900k images remain to be imported.

Yeah, I'm getting the same bug; I can't get a note to be added properly or edited to fix its size and position. I tried both clearing my cache and my cookies to no avail.

Not sure if it's a bug or just something with my computer... but I can't seem to use the "like" feature at all. I can still "favorite" anything I like, but if I click the like-up button then nothing happens and it's the same for down... help? :p
