it sounds like NCA files are the Nintendo Switch equivalent of of the 3DSes installable stuff, CIA files, from this leak.

that must be why it sounds so familiar, since the 3DS romhack scene uses RomFS for creating romhacks for Mario and Pokemon games, which is how I just assumed that NCA files were so similar to CIA files, while the Switch is most likely going to use NCAFS files for romhacks.

Mii Resources too. Textures, models?, and the new Mii format.

Old: 96 bytes.
New: 88 bytes.

Edit: the NintendoSDK_Documents-ForNX isn't fully translated to English, some JPN links, and notes.

From the manual:

NCA
A file format used as an executable application image and as a data container.

NSP
NSP files contain multiple NCA files corresponding to the program, management data, and manual types, in addition to ticket data and other metadata for management, forming the unit for applications on NX

NCD
A directory layout format with the same logical structure as an NCA file. NCD directories are created when building applications using NX-VSI. They are formulated in the following way.

NSPD

The freakiest glitch just happened while I was playing skyrim
Spoilers for the Begining parts ahead

Too many Spider! (Terrifying Skyrim Glitch!)

Alright, this just happened a few hours ago and feel free to mock me for being this freaked out from a got dang video game but this glitch just terrified me. Now I'm not gonna say "A Spooky scary ghost took over my computer and made this stuff happen" or anything. I'm pretty sure this was just a technical bug but still possibly one of thee most terrifying tech bugs that's ever happen to me! After this incident, I know never to f**k with the game and it's spawning mechanics. Plus I am Never, Ever going to flood the room with an ultra-powerful spell ever again!

Let me start from the beginning, As of recently, I've love to play the game Skyrim in my free time. If I have to give a single reason Why I loved to play the game enough to rack up over 700 hours in the few months or so of me having it, It would be the character creation system. Ever since the days of Soul Calibur 3 I've always been a sucker for the "Make Your own Hero!" Concept so playing Skyrim just made all my dreams come true.

Though it was while I was making another new character, I thought it would be a good idea to make an all out mage. Never used spells all that much and thought it was about time I did, It would give me a chance to test out some of the new mods I had installed. Now I sure most of you already know what 'mods' are but for those who don't there like add-ons to a game. There are some that allow you to jump off cliffs with no fall damage or Allow you to import weapons from other games and so on. Now the mods I have installed mostly centered around animes and the one that triggered this whole spine-chilling fiasco would be the ones I got that allow you to do Jutsu from the show/anime Naruto. Now, these Jutsu's were extremely overpowered and you could say it took away from the game due to how over power they were but I was having fun. I made an Argonian, Named him 'Rinnegan' and got right to playing the game! I got to Fling people into the sky or wish them around in the air at will with the 'Unreal Pull' spell and Totally set any room ablaze with the "Fire Release: Great Fireball" spell! All was well and good until I got to the first dungeon.

I already had another mod installed called 'Alternet Start' that allowed me to start any copy outside the main campaign. making it so I could start it whenever I wanted by going to Helgen (The first area) whenever I wanted. After Reaching level 28 I thought it was about time I did so I could start fighting some dragons with my new found power. "Maybe I could fling them around too!" I thought as I went through the motions of the whole "First Helden, Than Riverwood then Dungeon then Whiterun" dance I've gone through plenty of times to know by heart. Everything went off without a hitch; I got the notebook, Ran down to Riverwood, told the blacksmith, tried to steal an iron ingot with the 'Hidden Mist Jutsu' but turns out it deactivates it's self when you interact with something. Guy flipped out, Ran down the street with his greatsword and chopped some girls head off; Turns out the blacksmith has issues. Don't worry I brought her back to life with resurrection but still had to put the blacksmith down since he just started killing random people over a dumb Iron ingot. After that mess, I got to the temple place where you get that one dragon item the mage over in Whiterun needs.

Again things go pretty smoothly at first, Hidden mist jutsu my way past the two guys talking next to the camp fire. Watch in the background as the guy that usually takes 7 or 8 hits with a great sword to fall, passes out from some poison darts that don't even make a notable scratch on anyone else. And Great Fireball my way down the stairs killing the 3 skeevers. Than... My blood is running cold remembering this part and I can't describe how uneasy I feel right now. The Spider. Now, this part is usually easy, 'One big spider. no problem.' but I don't know if it was because of how over-leveled I was or because of the mods I had installed or just a general mess up of the game but what follows is something I will never ever forget.

Made my way into the spider room and as usual there some guy saying "help, Get me outta here!" I thought this would be the perfect time to flood the room with my Fire Release since I needed the guy dead anyway since he had the golden claw (The Golden Claw is something you need to get the item for the mage to progress the game.) Just as I was getting the spell ready, baby spiders came popping out of the eggs lining the room. "No big deal," I thought, "This happens now and again, I'll just nuke them too!" So I just flood the room in flames. The flames do about 60 or 100 or so a seconds and have a huge range. I've also been boosting my mana alone with the level ups so I could just hold the spell out for about 40 seconds straight, letting it consume the room in fire though the longer I held the spell out the more off things started to seem. Why was the life bar for the enemies going up and down so much and why did the enemy indicator show so many red dots? When I started there was only about 6 and now there could easily be around 20. I stop the spell to see just what was going on and what I saw was pure horror. What looked like Hundreds upon hundreds of baby spiders littered the ground while new ones just kept spawning and spawning with seemingly no end! Shell-shocked at just what the hell was going on I flood the room again in fire, Feeling my skin begin to crawl as my shocked mind slowly put the pieces together!

Did killing them right when they spawn cause some sort of glitch where the game didn't think they spawned at all, Making this infinite spawn-loop of creepy crawlies or was something wrong from the very start! Left, Right, Up, Down, Backwards and forwards they were freakin EVERYWHERE! I couldn't deal, It wasn't that I couldn't take them but being in such a small place with these little nightmares spawning in waves made me panic and I got out of there with billions of tiny spiders hot on my heels still spawning and somehow keeping pace with me; Sometimes appearing right in front of my path! If I had to give an example of what it was like running away from those things It would be this!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmhpYY2MYw8

Making it out of the den of horrors by the skin of my teeth I pause the game and take a breath. Taking comfort in the thoughts that it's over and I could always just use the Add menu I had modded in to get the stone so I didn't 'Have' to go back in there. This comfort was very short lived though as the battle music kicked up as soon as I unpaused. THEY FREAKING FALLOWED ME OUTSIDE! MY WHOLE COPY WAS INFECTED WITH THESE LITTLE HORRORS! Deciding to not let this get the better of me, I summon a storm thrall and ready my bound great weapon; I make a stand to not let my fear of these little monsters prevent me from enjoying this freakin game the way I want too! I and around 3 other Thralls I had to summon since they all seem to gang up on them made our way through what must have been a hundred of the bugs but it was only after another 50 that I realized there just will be no end to them! They will follow me forever on this copy no matter where I go, Just spawning and spawning and spawning! If only if I could go back in time and let those things spaw-

*Loading*

- Riften has earned quite a sinister reputation, mostly due to the Thieves' Guild presence in the sewers beneath the streets.

Back at the entrance, No spiders Greatest news I've ever gotten. I Kill the two guys next to the fire moving on. I kill the guy before he moves the switch moving on. I incinerate the 3 skeevers without even looking back. I stare vacantly at the pit leading into the spider's den, Finger still trembling due to what the hell just happen. Clenching my fist I say out loud I refuse to let that one moment make me fear this game like moments have done before. This time using my sword I cut through the webs, My heart drops a bit when I see the shadow of the big spider but I reassure myself again that "It's just one!" If on queue the tiny spiders come flooding out of the egg sacks but this time I let them come out and not try to blow them up on the spot. Once I was completely sure that they were done I use a variation of the Chidori move that acts like a powerful large-scale Lighting Rune Explosion. I look left, I look right, No spiders. it was done =)

I'll probably have nightmares over this and I could have sworn at one point I felt spiders crawling on me but at least I faced it ya know?

You might be asking why'd I share this because I felt like I needed to tell someone. Like I needed to warn them that this game is buggy, I mean really buggy! Don't play with the spawning mechanics with this game because if you do, some truly terrifying stuff will happen!

hmmm... sounds like you just encountered a nasty case of Demonic Spiders. and no one likes demonic spiders.

this particular case being a glitch in the "Can duplicate itself or summon reinforcements with no apparent limit on how many or how often." category.

i take it you don't like spiders much? well, same here but to be fair, i did have to deal with a large wood roach in my room irl a few nights ago. scared the F outta me when i heard it fluttering around then suddenly saw this giant bug flying around out of nowhere.

I think I remember this part! It's even more fun when you realize that both players control separate parts of the tank if you're playing on Co-Op!

phew, that's enough for tonight. decided to just use whatever blocks i had on hand after a while for the outer wall construction but 1.4k+ blocks down and about 1/3 of 1 side of this massive castle i want to build in the creative mode island is done. that and 130+ foundation blocks waaay down at the water lvl base floor.

at 6 blocks high per floor (to offset the games...crappy camera that doesn't zoom quite right unless you swing it around and fiddle with it) that's 5 floors in a space of at least 1-200 x 1-200 x 30.

it's not all that annoying since you can just go off and gather materials and stuff from any of the 4 chapters freely in this mode but it is tiresome and tedious...not necessarily boring though. it beats minecraft though since this games devs know what freaking MUSIC is and how to use it properly! it's not borderline non-existent like the music in minecraft.

plus, this game has a pretty good draw distance so one this castle is done, it should be visible from quite the distance.

this is in dragon quest builders btw. and if they decide to make a 2nd builders game then i hope they expand it overall like with heroes 2 and toukiden 2 cause they did a real good job with that.

internet was out again for most of today so this post is late.

$50k for a set of headphones... that is what is known as shit for people who are rich and stupid aka people with more money than brains. like that one burger with the gold leaves, caviar and other shit piled on it. thing sounds nasty to me.

my aunt got me some noise cancelling headphones earlier this year from wal-mart. probably cost under $100 and they're the best headphones i've ever had and get great sound quality. $50K for headphones? i question the intelligence of the person who buys that garbage.

there, now it's not.

i thought i hadn't posted that yet but i guess it was still saved in the text field. oops

oh, and i was wrong about the dimensions of that castle i've been working on. it's actually 87 x 62 x 30 which puts it just a few block bigger than 161.8k+ blocks worth of space.

:/ probably gone and placed several thousand on the outer walls alone by now. got about 2 full walls worth done. and that's just the outer walls. i'm not starting the interior stuff till that's finished.

i was also thinking of enclosing the main incognita island in a shell of obsidian too to give it something of a "dark land" feel.

could probably fit 1, maaaybe 2 more castles this size on the main island.

I also just finished replaying the dead space series which is probably one of my favorite games the controls are fun, the necromorphs are grotesque and cool as well as really aggressive plus I immensely enjoyed the story.

Dead space 1

I was surprised the graphics still look pretty good although some parts of the game felt a little unrefined now, this one is still really good, I also forgot isaac didn't talk.

Dead space 2

This one is my favorite I thought the space station built around one of saturns moons was a fun setting, especially with the school and residential areas.

Dead space 3

Out of all three this one is my least favorite as well as the easiest although it is still fun in it's own way. However it's this one that has my favorite part of the story with the revealment of the brother moons and I thought the ending of the DLC was awesome.

i was just checking...and imgur pic every single franchise show in this pic is gone. so yeah, that new SNES console is precisely why this happened.

well, not all of them but the majority have been nuked. mario, kirby, super metroid, F-Zero, Legend of Zelda, The (still sounds stupid to me how files get sorted that way)...all gone. all because of the rerelease of a small handful of games.

they finally updated the file format for textures? I know both versions of Smash 4 used the exact same file format for textures, as well as most Nintendo released games using a slightly different version of .B*STM files, .BRSTM for Wii games, BCSTM for most games released during the Wii U's life, and finally, Zelda BotW strangely uses BFSTM files.

Supported source DDS formats (passthrough only, no conversion):

DXT5 --> RGBA_DXT5 0x44

.xtx output.

So yes, tex mods can be done. Just no way to load them anytime soon.

this'll be fun, knowing just how accessible the file format is for Switch textures, although you are looking at a multiplat game, which usually ends up using just a single file format throughout every version to prevent any complications porting any potential DLC to any console. I wonder just how easy modding MK8D will be when it eventually is moddable, considering how every Nintendo console ends up getting hacked as late as two years after release, although the Switch was sort of hacked extremely soon after it's release by qwertyoruiops.

I wish qwertyoruiops would release his PS4 hack, but he's a bit busy with his Etherum mining rig to do anything else right now.

EDIT: I just realized you were talking about the Trico, and not the MC, and looking at the Ico Team Wiki, apparently this Trico doesn't have a name since it was locked in the cave with the MC for quite some time prior to the events of the game.

edit: Alex Mauer threatens a 2nd wave of DMCA strikes

this girl has ruined her future pretty much and still keeps making things worse. youtubers beware, it looks like Alex Mauser may be starting a 2nd wave of DMCA takedowns.

from what I have read, you have to beat Chapter 4 after finding the Sword of Ruin.

o_O hmmm... wasn't sure about that one so i skipped it on my last round with that boss. well, i can check and see later.

at least i went and unlocked the meteoric bracer recipe so woo, double movement speed! :) that with that double jump accessory (when i unlock it) should make my castle and future creations much easier and quicker to finish.

What happened to the days where people discovered this sort of thing for themselves? I'd rather sit there with a notepad writing shit down as I play and figure it out for myself than have someone give me the answer. You should see what an A4 piece of paper looks like after I've played a game like Tales of Eternia: Detailed maps, lists of co-ordinates, puzzle layouts and solutions, it's a very informative mess.

congrats, you know how to do cartography. -_- me, i do things this way when i pull out cheat engine for friggin console game emulation. i can use it to cheat in the vast majority of games easily but every so often i'll come across a game with strange programming and i have to throw everything i know out the window and start figuring things out the hard way.

the translated sega genesis game, Brave Battle Saga - Legend of the Magic Warrior is a prime example of this. why the F won't those damned HP values STAY frozen between battles?! i find the value, freeze it in one battle. then when the next battle starts i have to relocate the value because the address or something changed between fights and the first one i froze no longer works.

and other times, like with the 3-in-1 wizardry game(s) for snes, things are just plain weird. o_O the gold value in that game is not a single value but rather...multiple different values. first 3 digits are a single byte value that goes from 0-255 and then the next 3...might? be another single byte value? plus those games have no lvl cap. it's a double byte value so give your character(s) a metric fuck ton of exp and go hog wild in the INN ;) you'll never stop lvling unless you somehow hit a double byte value limit (and that could be anywhere up to 1E+100+).

some games are just weird...

oh and on that note, if anyone tries cheat engine on NDS games. be careful as some games have 2 or more results for each value. i remember a shin megami tensei game having 2 values for each character/monsters HP. so you gotta freeze both at the same time for that to work.

oh the joys of cheating and risking the game crashing (which happens a lot on these stranger games). now, if i could just solve how sega cd works...

I do that with the area words in Dot Hack. There is a list of area words, but while you can easily know what is influenced, nowhere will you learn how that thing is influenced. So I'm going through each one and figuring it out, only knowing what categories to look for and what words have priority.

This may take a long time. There are a lot of them.

funnily enough, I had an issue with my PS2 hard drive and putting games on it that I couldn't find anywhere on the internet except maybe one thing that hinted at what may be wrong. I thought either the IDE/SATA to USB connecter I bought a while back, or the programs I was using, were so old, that they could not properly use USB 3.0, and the best program would crash at a certain point of putting a game onto the HDD, usually around 27% or 43%. The solution was just to plug the hard drive converter into the one USB 2.0 port I had on my PC, even though I thought that USB3.0 acted as USB2.0 when you plugged a 2.0 into the 3.0 port.

News Wave! - Sony Used Xbox One X Footage...And Got Caught

Oops.

I'm wondering how you get caught that easily? could you not have remade the entire UI so you wouldn't get caught, considering they did an attempt at such a thing and failed horribly.

goodness... i'll get back to DQB later. for now, i went back, trained a little more, and managed to take down Dhuran a 2nd time in DQH2...and what turned out to be the easiest of those 4 bosses in that part of the final battle region.

another barrier defense battle down (thankfully this one went easier than the one before the twin kings fight) and now this game has gone and taken a note from the mega man franchise. the monster medal holders power has been nullified by fractos' power and i'm fighting waves of monsters from past battles starting with the battle for harba waaay back at the start of the game. this 2nd round is dunisia so it's going in order at least.

i hope fractos doesn't start summoning minions in the final battle cause if that happens i'm screwed without the monster medal holder available.

let's see... i think this is either the 4th or 5th phase of the final battle region. it's quite the lengthy set of battles, that's for sure.

he is just known as "The Boy". What's odd though, is that the Shadow of the Colossus MC is named Wander while the MC of Ico is just named Ico while The Last Guardian's MC doesn't have a name to go by as far as we all know of.

EDIT: I just realized you were talking about the Trico, and not the MC, and looking at the Ico Team Wiki, apparently this Trico doesn't have a name since it was locked in the cave with the MC for quite some time prior to the events of the game.

Thank you for the information.

yep, won't be beating the dragonlord map in solo mode. no way will that work.

lvl 40+ now and i can barely scratch Fractos' hp in his 2nd fi\orm. 1st form ain't too bad as mainly just sits around flinging spells everywhere. an archer can handle that easy enough but that 2nd form...

the best orbs (armor) in the game can't keep up with that power. 2-3 hits per party member and 1 lose every time. plus his range of attacks can get you from any side. i'd say the difficulty is unfair but nah, that'd be lying. if i hang back and grind 20 or more lvls i might be able to take him. well, easier anyway.

this games final boss is MUCH harder than whatshisname from the first game. probably about the same difficulty as the fight to beat and unlock psarro. and then there's the erdrick and dragonlord post game final boss maps which are supposed to be FAR harder than this final boss. with the dragonlord having FOUR different forms. i'll have to wait till my new PC and try the (free) multiplayer on that or something for those fights.

guess i'll go back to builders now and test that cursed equipment challenge. see what it unlocks.

apparently the heating happens if you have it in a small, enclosed area, or put in a case, since the fans on the Switch seem to be weirdly designed to still be in a very low power state even though the system is off but charging. If it was heating up while playing BotW, though, that may be the case since BotW is a pretty demanding game, even so much as to heat up the Switch in more demanding areas in the game, like intense battles and in the Lost Woods or Hyrule Castle.

Splatoon 2 Direct - Everything You Need to Know!

Dumping Nintendo Switch RomFS is a thing now.

Edit:
These Nintendo Switch Portable Adapters Are Actually Cheap Knockoffs!

Ouch.

Edit 2:

Splatoon 2: Splatfest World Premiere

1.4 GB

On eShop. :3

Splatoon 2: Splatfest World Premiere English footage

=^_^=

judging by the filesize of Splatoon 2; I want to say the game will be just over 2 times the size of the first Splatoon, or possibly even twice as big as the game plus all of the updates (or DLC as Nintendo tried to call it, I'm just calling it an update because that's what it is, the weapons were all added during the update I personally don't care at all), which seems really nice, going to get even more bang for your buck from the last game.

EDIT: After watching the Switch dock video, jesus christ, how did so much people not question these boards at all? Even worse, how did no one on the Kickstarter team not notice that this was a ripoff product?

Alex Mauer gets served

and she intends on representing herself in court. that won't end well with her current situation. well, hopefully the results of this court case will bring some good news towards content creators and others regarding copyright stuff which seems to typically cause a big mess of problems these days.

This isn't going to turn into a "poor innocent woman being bullied by the authorities" story, is it?

considering everything Alex has been doing as of late, I'm hoping it doesn't turn into such a story.

Wonder if Capcom ever thought doing
more spin off games

I wouldn't mind a spin off of
Darkstalkers that plays like a Castlevania Symphony of the Night game.

But then again Megaman would be more popular,
having Megaman with Symphony of the Night like gameplay,
and huge "2D" free-roam stages.

Ooo a Darkstalkers game that plays like Devil My Cry.
I can see that.

Oh a Street Fighter Game that plays like Final Fight
or just have a new Final Fight game with Street Fighter characters as a bonus.

never tried dark stalkers before but MMX: Corrupted will be similar to a metroidvania...eventually. RPG elements, a large open world (albeit a 2D world) that isn't simply divided up into stages, and apparently the armor sets will be able to be mix and matched for different combinations of abilities... i really have no idea when this game will be finished but it's likely going to be pretty big and the last i checked, the dev was working on the "Skyway" section.

it's one of those games where it'll be done released when it's eventually finished and with i think 1 or more people making it... that's a lengthy development time...that's already been ongoing for several years and counting. :/ but i have hope...MAYBE crapcom won't try to do something shitty when it finally does get finished...maybe...

tbh, i wouldn't put it past them to do something shitty at this point since...when was the last actual mega man game released? and i don't mean rereleases.

looks like there was a castlevania animated series on netflix recently which i find to be somewhat surprising. how long has it been since anything decent or...non-NSFW has come from that franchise?
